I have been a fan of these guns for years. Is there anything more budget friendly with a biathlon style straight pull action? A $3300 gun a out of my price range. For now....

Watch for ishmash 7-4 (better check spelling). Less expebdive, but parts are getting hard to find, compared to Anschutz. Or try the Anschutz 64R Sprint. Bolt action, but 2/3 the price.

Browning T-bolt is a straight pull, and I think ISSC had some toggle lock straight pulls a few years ago. Don't know the availability of the ISSC and the T-bolt isn't really a biathlon-type

R any of the anschutz fortner owners ever gonna post how their guns are performing?? I had a new one I never fired and I sorta miss that rifle like crazy lol. Best actions I’ve ever played with

If you have some friends in Russia, Orsis has a nice one... but probably just as expensive as the Anschutz

I got a 1727 LF from Nordicmarksman last Fall . I only shot it from the rest one afternoon . Tried a few shots out of a half a dozen different boxes even some Federal bulk. Everything looked like it was working pretty well. Elly black box was the best of what I tried. ( no supprise) I only Shot about 60 rounds with a relativly low power scope, sighting in and testing a few diffeant loads from the rest but I sure looked like the !/2" challange would be doable with more scope and good ammo. All of the shooting I have did since that day has been ofhand. I am really growing to like this rifle for offhand shooting. I was never a fan of the european style stock ( a bit ugly in my view ,but that's just me) ,but it seems to fit me OK and the trigger is superb. I chose the heavy barrel model , so it would be a bit heavy for some ,but I like it. The action is about the slickest working thing you can get yor hands on. The stock has some nice grain to it which redeams the european style somewhat. I flip- floped between Cooper or Anschutz for quite a long time before pulling the trigger on the Anschutz (pun intended) and have not been disapointed. The Anschutz is for sure pricey , but shooting one will make you forget that.

My 1727F in .17HMR has averaged .33" for about 10 consecutive 5-shot groups at 50 yards, and .77" for 10 consecutive 5-shot groups at 100 yards. This was with the Hornady branded 17-gr. V-Max ammunition.

Not as large as a sample but along the lines of my savage 17 hmr with a 3x9 on it. I think annies really shine with 22lr rifles.

are you going to shoot at biathlon? do you really need straight pull to save fraction of a second comparatively to a bolt? there are better bolt guns and cheaper too. cheers

the OP is talking about biathlon straight pull action rifles, not bolt tactical rifles. Biathlon rifles are all about diopter sights and globe front sights and they have to have proper weight.

I used to have Izhmash 7-2 Biathlon Basic rifle, super acccurate and easily adaptable to diopter sights. It was toggle action (similar to Fortner but there was a lever that swings out and pulls the bolt in straight line. Check with Teapot (Interammo sponsor), he might have something left. He used to service Izhmash biathlon rifles for some clubs so would know a thing or two or know some used units.
