Lets hear what owners have to say about their rifle...
I bought one 2 weeks ago and I hope to try it before the end of summer.
I want the rifle to be perfect before I try it.
I plan to install an Anschutz rail in the front, a set of Hex screws instead of the slotted screws and maybe a bedding ( still not sure about this ).
The 5 shots test target on mine is a quarter inch big so it should shoot pretty well.
What do you mean by "Anschutz rail in the front"? The hex screws are a good idea if you can find them. The ones I ordered a few months ago from a Canadian dealer did not fit. http://www.nordicmarksman.com/M4-Hex-Head-Match-64-Bedding-Bolt.html Why bed this rifle before shooting it? This model without modification will outshoot the vast majority of riflemen.
The Anschutz accesories rail : I want to install one under the forearm, like most Anschutz stocks then I will be able to use my bipod, handstop, sling swivel, etc...
I found the screws for the MSR but you have to order them from the USA : https://www.jnpgunsprings.com/product_info.php?cPath=8&products_id=233
If you were to inlet for such a rail it wouldn't leave much if any wood under it as the stock is quite thin there as the fore arm area has been hollowed out. Most shooters don't use a bipod with this kind of rifle when shooting off the bench; they use a front rest and rear bag. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.
I have two Anschutz rifles, An MPR & a 2007. In my opinion neither require bedding.
There are a few Anschutz shooters at our Club & none of these have bedded their rifles. (The opinion of most is that Anschutz does a good job on the stock inletting.)
If your new rifle shoots crappy I would check out all other possible problems & only bed it as a last resort.
I'm certain you will do a great job on the rail, I remember the excellent work you did on your Schultz & Larsen model 70.
Is it possible to trade your stock for one with the rail model? Just a thought.
So back to the subject, anyone else have a MSR, how is the accuracy? One thing I'm curious to hear is what's the torque value of the action screws of your MS-R ?
I was using 24 in-lbs for torque. Down at the bottom of page about torque http://www.anschutznorthamerica.com/technical-questions.html
For correct tightening of the action screws, ANSCHÜTZ recommends the use of a torque wrench, starting at 2.5 Nm ( 22 inch-lbs ) and not to exceed 4.0 Nm ( 35 inch-lbs).
Excessive screw torque may cause damage.! If you have further questions contact the service center.
That is indeed a beautiful rifle & your results of it's first range day are impressive.
