Could anyone tell me what a decent price to pay for a Model 54 or Model 64 Anschutz? I honestly wouldn't need the peep sights as long as its ready to mount a scope to. Are they all heavy barrels? Whats the difference between the 54 and 64? I had pretty much decided on a Mark II TR but am wondering if I should get an Anschutz? What are the chances of getting one that cant shoot? How expensive to rebarrel? This would be for mainly fun matches nothing overly competitive. I have also been looking at the anschutz Model 64 MP-R but cant find any Canadian prices.

Honest opinions please.

Thanks

I've only been shooting Annie's for a couple of seasons now but I'll put in my 2¢ since no one else has, yet.

Many model 54's and 64's will come with a heavy target barrel but you can likely find a few with a sporter-weight barrel if you're looking to carry it in the bush. The chance of buying a lemon of an Annie is, in my opinion, rather low; I've yet to see one that can't outshoot it's owner.

Both the 54 and 64 come in a repeater model, so the choice will likely come down to the price you're willing to pay and availability. You can find used 64's anywhere from $350 - $1000+ depending on the stock and the trigger, but a decent CIL 190 (which is a model 64) can be had for around $400 (they pop up on the EE from time to time). 54's are a bit more expensive as they tend to be sold with better stocks and 2-stage triggers - in decent shape you'll be looking at $900-$1400 used... if you can find one for cheaper, buy it.

Brand new, you're looking at double those prices.

Feel free to correct me guys, as I'm nowhere near the most experienced in the bunch.

Prophet River has some new Anschutz rimfires on for $999.I got lucky and purchased a like new 1730HB in 22 Hornet for $1300 on the EE.

Just sold the last 22 though. Still have a few 17's left. Picked up from a dealer that retired. Hopefully, we'll get more; they are a great shooting rifle and hard to beat at that $$$.

Im in no big panic. I cant spend anything till sometime after christmas, probably closer to spring:( Whats everyones opinions going single shot or a repeater?? This will be used mainly bench rest local fun matches.

Thanks

I haven't seen a 22lr bolt action Anschutz that didn't shoot...

The 64 action is their "entry" model

While the 54 is their "higher" end action.

..

As mentioned before, if you want to save yourself seme $$, you could always look for a used Anschutz CIL...

Yup, that's the ballpark. I have a non-CIL branded 190 for plinking (and for my son) and I use a 1913 for prone.

Keep an eye on the Tradeex website, they had a few 54's which were sold awhile ago for just over $300. I'm not sure how they shot but I believe everyone who bought one has since sold it on the EE.

People bought them because of the price, I was lucky enough to get a 64 and 54 both are shooters. The price was extremely good.

The 54 is one slick action, however the 64 is quite unbelievable as well.

I think I have the 64 sold but only because I dont need two target rifles.

The big difference in the two actions is in the bolt itself.
The 54 has a much stronger design that the 64, and a better safety as well as a smidge faster lock time.
You can pick up a 64 actioned C.I.L. 310 for about $350, a 54 in a model 900 will be about twice that, but every now and then you can find them for about $500.
The stocks very on both actions considerably , from basic to deluxe, and in the target rifles the stock adds as much to the price as the action.

Here I have some (general) information about models:

About prices - since market is quite narrow - there is no that big supply (and demand), so prices may vary. Monitor EE section, also you can post your WTB there - that's how I've got my rifle. It was Match 54 single loader with prone stock and two-stage hair trigger. Price was less than $700. About how it shoots - well, I'd really hope that I would be able to complain some day ;)
I don't think it's possible to get an Anschutz which doesn't shoot.

About 54 and 64. Usually it's agreed that 54 is slightly more advanced on everything - more accurate, more "heavy duty", faster lock, better trigger, etc. I'd say that the only difference for the non-pro people is the trigger - two-stage trigger pull which can be set as light as 70 grams is noticeable nicer. But that's doesn't mean that my coach can't easily overshoot me with the old beaten club CIL rifle/64 action :D

If you are looking something for the fun only, and using scope rather than peep sights - I don't think you need Anschutz, especially 54. It's like buying BMW M3 solely to pickup your wife from work.

Are the 1415/1416's pure Anschutz? There's one on the EE right now, any knowledge of some internet discussions that suggest its a Savage /Anschutz hybrid?

If they shot well at all then it's highly unlikely that they'd be re-sold.
