Only in the rediculous world of firearms would something invented 105 years ago be considered "modern". Face it guys, rechambering antiques to 45ACP was widespread during WW1 & WW2, Colt and Christy's rechambered lots of antique guns in the 50's & 60's to 44 special when single actions became popular again. Cartridge conversions were done by both Colt and Remington in the 1860's & 70's?? Trying to imply all antiques should be 100% original is unworkable.
The caliber list was designed to make all shootable antiques restricted, period. Anyone who believes that certain calibers were left for people to enjoy, is a fool. Who says a cartridge from 1907 is "not antique"? Making this determination is based on obsolecence not age and the premise is antiques should be restricted if they can be operational. It is the same position as those who made the list, think about it.
Well Said and all true ^ + the SAA colts you see in 45 acp use the same chamber as a 455 MKII webley.
people just shoot 45 acp in them because the ammos easyer to get.
If you take a SAA colt cylinder thats set up for 45 acp you can chamber and shoot a 455 fiochhi in it so really a 45 acp chamber is the same as a 455 chamber. Its a new cylinder fair enough but lotsa guns get there parts replaced as they wear out.
+ remember the frames are still antique you can not shoot really hot modern factory smokeless in theses antiques most shoot only light loaded stuff like cowboy ammo.
But if i want to say a 45 acp chamber its now 455 and thats and antique cartridge i can as 45 acp in SAA colts head space on the case mouth no moon clips needed i have orignal 455 MKII ammo fits perfect . SAA colts were in fact chambered in 450 Boxer and in 476 and 455 calibers all orignal to just change a cylinder is not a big a deal as some here are makeing out i dont think they even undersrtand what a 45 acp chambered SAA colt cylinder looks like.
You can chamber and shoot 455 Fiochhi in any SAA colt thats listed as 45 acp the chamber throats are .452 but guess what the chamber throats in a MKI or MKII webley are also .452 same with the bores some even less.
So tell me how anyone can say that the SAA colt in Question is not in fact 455 MKII Webley.
They mention antiques twice in that artical big deal Wendy had a table full of antique handguns on TV back when the liberals were in power and know one cared back then just like even more dont care now.
She is back ground Noise and getting fainter as time goes on i say let her fade away.
As one poster said she will only be happy when you are not happy.
