Just got this Belgian Pinfire 7mm a few days ago, this was back in the day the "Saturday Night Special". The design was rendered obsolete by rimfire and centerfire cartridges.
Anyone have any ammo for sale????
OOPS....did some research on the links below and re-measured the bore and front of the cylinder and the gun is a 7 millimeter caliber not 8mm as I originally thought. Turns out there is no such thing as 8mm.

You could put a small pistol primer inside with a brass or iron pin that would strike it no?.
Yes I could see it being labour/time intensive but it seems fairly straight forward. maybe im wrong though.

Those look excellent.
You should use brass wire or in my case I used silicone bronze ring nails with the rings filed off and shortened etc. On guns with weak hammers it will not make a difference but on guns with a strong hammer, an iron pin will damage the hammer
A lot of the small pinfires seem to have very weak springs and I suspect they require a square shelf for the primer to sit on in order to get enough of a blow to fire the cap. I made some roughly 7 mm pinfire shells and the primer fit is a cylindrical cavity in the base. I found the hammers of several guns were not strong enough to fire an upside down #11 cap and some point I intend to make up a trial shell with square recess for the cap and hopefully that will work. The larger guns seem to have stronger hammers and #11 primers fire readily

Mooncoon... you are right about weak springs..this gun needs some work but the chambers and bore are in good shape and like all my guns I must shoot it

Here are some photos of a James Wilkinson & Son, Gunmakers to His Majesty, 16ga single. Entered into the Wilkinson ledger Nov. 22, 1822.
Of the 15 guns on the page, 2/3 are percussion, which I found surprising.
The purchaser of this gun was not recorded, unfortunately. The names of the three primary workmen are listed, though.
Note the sophisticated "waterproof" lock. Platinum touchole. The frizzen does not touch the barrel. There is a little loop, part of the lockplate which contacts the barrel, the frizzen is fitted against this. You might be able to make out the silver overlay to protect the wood in the breech area on both sides. Marblecake thinshell walnut stock. Bore is shiney, near perfect. Top jaw and top jaw screw are replacements. Top jaw has no engraving, and I made the screw; the replacement screw that was in it was truly horrible. Original rosewood ramrod.

Oh wow, thanks for the site Skinny, and I should be able to replace just the spring, the hand is in good condition still. And overall its in great shape, no pitting strong rifling and even some case hardening left on the hammer frame and plunger, doesn't show to well in the pictures though. Thanks again for the site sir! You have quite a few nice pieces your self!
