After having my LEH draws "evaporate" in the mail this year it opened my eyes a bit.
Talking to different people I heard a pretty bold statement that I hope is not accurate.
A seasoned hunter told me a story about the "green peacers" he called them. Apparently a large number of them all put in for draws and when sucessful they have a "tag burning party". The number he told me for this year was around 1500 tags burned! could this be right?
Even if this is an exagerated number the idea is still disturbing.
They do not realize that part of the LEH allotment is for conservation to prevent over population and the animals dying of desease or starvation.
Would changing the system to having to buy a hunting licence first before applying have any effect? if nothing else it would generate more cash for MOE.
what do you think of this ? any ideas on changes that might curb this activity?
as far as my leh tags they will be couriered to victoria for now on.
