Antler mount help

I agree...2.5 years old.

If you can find a shallow roaster, you can boil the skull cap and set the water level so that the bottom of the antlers are just out of the water. That will keep them from changing color.

I oil the antlers to perserve them and keep them from drying/bleaching out.

Virox (accelerated hydrogen peroxide) works well for bleaching the skull. It works well mixed 50/50 with water. Don't get it on the horns. I used a rag between the horns to hold the peroxide and not get it on the horns. Make sure it's a white rag.
 
Point count: I always thought it was a Canadian / American kind of a thing.

For Black tail around here I actually have never counted a brow tine.

Nice deer though, bigger than any of my 3 in 2-16 this year.
