When I spent some time in Australia back in 1998 I worked for a fella that had one. He reloaded it with coated bullets, which may have been moly, but it was the first I had heard of coating bullets. He claimed the coated bullets allowed him to push 180 gr bullets over 3600 fps. I can't say if it was true or not but they were very hot loads he was shooting, I do remember distinctly that he had to hit the bolt, with the palm of his hand (sometimes more than once) to open it, probably ruined a good Weatherby action. I wish I had been smart enough to look at the primers on spent cartridges but alas I was less gun savy back then. He carried it round in his Land Cruiser shooting it at random kangaroos and emu, it made a heck of a mess when hitting an emu at 150 yards.
He was a crazy bastard, who bilked me out of 3 months wages. I have since forgiven him for that but I am really pissed that he never took me feral pig hunting like he promised.
I guess I didn't help with what your post asked but it reminded me of a good story.
