Any dealers with a Sig P220 Match Elite in stock

I tried to buy one last year through Questar but wasn't prepared to order something and fork out a 25% deposit without an ETA. How could you even take someones money as a deposit without providing an ETA???? Anyway, as luck would have it a new one found it's way onto the EE a short time after so I only waited about a week for mine....:D.

Their custom orders have a 12-24 week ETA. I ordered a 239, 25% down, which was stated as an ETA, got it in 6 weeks. They are just covering their butt because Sig isn't the most prompt manufacturer/supply chain. I believe Questar gets their stuff right from Sig USA and not Canadian Sig suppliers... therefore an importation wait. Right now I don't think Questar is accepting any custom Sig orders, at this time.

The Cabela's in Edmonton has a used P220 Elite Two-Tone in their Gun Library for the $745. I was looking at it earlier today and very tempted to buy it but unfortunately I have short stubby fingers and could not reach the trigger unless the gun was almost sideways in my hand! LOL! It comes with a hard case and 2 mags. Slide and frame are tight as well as lock up. The only blemish is the right grip panel has a minor crack on the backstrap. It's not the Match model but still a sweet looking gun!

Couldn't reach the trigger? Full sized pistol, but it has a thin, single stack grip. Had a 5'3" girl shoot mine and she had no problem... I doubt your hands are smaller than hers.

The wood grips on this gun are much thicker than the regular plastic ones. The trigger reach is comparable to the Beretta 92/96 platform.

I suggest you get a Sig 239, for a short reach. Full sized pistols are not for you then. If you can't reach unless you tilt the gun sideways a grip swap won't help you. Don't think you should buy a pistol that doesn't fit you, but it is always up to the buyer.

I seriously doubt any man's hand is smaller than hers (tiny) and wood grips might be thicker by .5mm or so at the most...

The wood grip Elite model is actually 0.100 wider than the plain jane P220. I suspect the distance from the backstrap to the trigger face is longer as well because I shot quite a bit with .38 Super P220 and it was no where near as bad as this Elite. Double action was still impossible for me to use properly even with the .38 Super. I'll just stick to my 1911s with short triggers and MK III Hi-Powers with the plastic grips. Double action triggers belong on a revolver anyways!

Here's a pic of my BHP. With a proper hold the tip of my finger just makes it to the trigger face. Hell, I can't even operate the mag release or slide release with my thumb without holding the damned thing sideways and the BHP has one of, if not the, the smallest grips of all full sized (and most compact for that matter) hanguns!

I just got a Sig 226 Elite Stainless and it's a gorgeous gun.

It is a double stack but I have fairly big hands and with the factory wood stocks it is a mitt full so I can see someone with small hands having a problem. The laminated wood Sig grips are also beautiful but they are BIG.

I just don't want the OP to possibly buy a pistol that doesn't fit him properly. I have large hands and everything seems to fit me. I find Sig 220/226 to fit me and have the best ergonomics, for me. Everyone is different, but I'd rather not see someone buy a rather expensive pistol and not have it work for him. Of course, this is his decision. There is a big difference between a BHP/CZ75 reach and a 226/220. If he lived close I'd let him try mine and see.

These are my large hands with the best platform for me, 226 with base, aluminum or E2 grips fit me like a glove. The OP wouldn't like the HK USP, as the grip is like a 2x4, but again it fits me great. Maybe if someone knows some paper thin 220 grips, they could recommend them. Otherwise I think this purchase would be a mistake for the OP.

Rectangular grip on the USP, but the reach doesn't seem to be that far off the 226.
Small grip on the P239, but I still love it! Won't find a shorter reach or thinner grip than this one.

Tokarev might be the only one I think is just way too short and thin... it's like a little pocket pistol.

I can reach farther past the trigger guard with my 226 EE with E2 grips than I can with my German 220. I am assuming it would be around the same if the 226 had the base grips.

I have Match Elite on order. Does anyone know if it will fit into a standard P220 holster? SIG's website does not indicate that a holster is available for the Match Elite. Thanks.

I never bothered to look for a holster that will fit this pistol but I doubt that a regular 220 holster will work. The Match Elite is about 1.25" longer than a standard 220. If I'm wrong about the holster, someone please feel free to correct me....

OP, did you buy a 220? Please update if you bought anything.

Here's another grip size comparison for the OP... The CZ97b has a beast of a grip, the biggest I've tried so far. It's much bigger than the 1911 and the CZ75 with custom thicker Zebrawood grips.

I just got a P220 Match in a trade and love it. I have medium size hands and never have had an issue with P226s or P220s.

Congrats on the trade. Any pics?

I thought the same thing as you when the OP said he couldn't manage the reach on the 220... a tiny girl shot mine and she loved it. But everyone is built differently and I'm wondering if he purchased something else.
