First I have to find a Security Six with an understanding owner as I don’t have 12.6.
I think it would be far easier to cut from the muzzle and have the front sight remounted. Cutting the forcing cone portion would mean rethreading not to mention the issue with losing a large chunk of the underlug.
The Security Six front sight sits in an elevated sight base due to the higher position of the adjustable rear sight. Cutting off the muzzle portion with this raised portion will make it easier for the gunsmith to get it to shoot point of aim.
Power Custom used to sell such a base for those shortening barrels on Smith, they were set up for either a dovetail mount front sight or replaceable blades from the DX series...
