Any Olympic trap shooters here ?

Do you really believe that is why Sporting is growing and the others are dying ?

Yep and more reasons as well it’s easier to be less competitive at sporting and still enjoy it.

I wouldn’t say trap is dying but it isn’t growing here like sporting is either no argument there. The league’s that are running may disagree with us though.

Hi school trap in the USA is huge and 11 to 22 year olds are rewriting what is possible in scores. Forget running an event like singles they run all the singles events at week long shoots.

I've shot a fair bit of Olympic Trap over the years. shot for Canada internationally for a few years. More skeet but I've dabbled in it all.

If you ask all competitors that’s have been part of the Olympic family,

being eliminated from the schedule is the best thing for the sport.

No more politics

Favouritism - he or she is by prodigy so I will make sure he/she has a place in the team

Fight for funding - untold amount of shenanigans over the years

Doping because of the hunger for success

Lack of prime time Television rights has always been the driving force getting shooting sports being eliminated.

Behind the background this elimination process has been going on since 2000

Then you have tree huggers and Greta adding fuel to fire .... it’s inevitable

Canada deserve better and can do it but there is so much apathy I have come across and self defeatism.

I remember practicing before a world championship and as you know you need 6 for a full squad for trap.

Somehow we only had 5 i.e. one short, then somebody yelled out - let’s get the Canadian team to fill in - that’s the general consensus in the real world.

Now I am settled and retired here and I really want to help but the wall is bigger than the one trump is building.

Enough ranting merry Christmas to you all.

I received a formal letter of invitation to attend some kind of Provincial Sports Award banquet being held in Toronto along with a certificate of achievement in the field of amateur sport signed by the Premier of Ontario(Davis?) and an invitation to shoot for Team Canada in 1987 but I cannot recall the details exactly of the invitation and I think I threw it out as I wasn't interested at the time and given my physique I wasn't about to call myself an athlete and attend an athletes banquet. LOL. I still have the certificate and banquet invitation and on the back of the banquet invitation is details I had written down for an appraisal being done on my '68 Camaro back then.....I had zero interest in shooting for Team Canada then and to this day would still say no if asked again for many of the reasons you mentioned above.
