Any Plans for a .308 AR? MAJOR UPDATE MAY 8 2014

This is fantastic news! I have been wanting a non restricted black rifle for some time and love the idea of putting my money into a CANADIAN product and support a Canadian company! Hopefully the price is obtainable. Looking at what other .308 non-restricted black rifles go for, I'm hoping to see similar prices. If it's a lot more it will probably be just a dream rifle for me.

Well given that it's going to take +9 months once a FRT is approved (let's all keep our fingers crossed) to purchase said rifle. That will give all of us more time to save up for what I expect to be a +$3,000 rifle with taxes in (not to mention optics), but I feel it will definitely be money well spent. Thank you ATRS for giving us hope of an ACCURATE .308 semi-auto. in NR status.

This will be interesting. If price doesn't go full retard then on paper it looks like a winner. Looking forward to pictures.

Very excited ATR, keep the price respectable and you'll see my dollars.

I have to wonder why something like this took WAY less time than the type 81, or other new firearms for that matter. Maybe they are trying to do something right before they get the boot this summer.

Clearly not. From what I understand from the description is that its closer to an XCR than an AR.

It may in theory be more similar to a XCR being it's NR and not of an AR lineage, but that's were the comparisons would stop. I expect the ATRS .308 semi. to be similar to an AR of high quality particular when discussing accuracy and reliability.

To further your point the xcr is a piston gun originally aim at a military contract and this is a di gun gear towards precision.

GREAT NEWS!!
Our semi auto 308 that we call the Modern Hunter has been deemed NON RESTRICTED:dancingbanana:

Now before we get deluged with all of the how much $$, when is it available and all the other million questions, let me be very clear. We sent in a "prototype". Now we need to refine it and test the hell out of it so that we know we can supply a reliable and accurate rifle. We do NOT want a rerun of what was seen in the early offerings of a competitors rifle.
Realistically IF we had them available for sale late this year I would be amazed, we figure 2015 will be the year that these actually become available, which is really not that far away as we are already nearly 1/2 through May. Good God where did 2014 go?

What I can tell you is this rifle will accept most AR10 furniture and uses either 308 P Mags or the newer style AR10 mags.
It employs direct gas impingement and is side charging similar to the FN FAL. The trigger is single stage match style only.

We will not have the prototype back from Ottawa for a couple of weeks, so please don't ask for photos, I will post some once we have the prototype back, just so folks can get an idea of what we are making.
P-mags please. Don't use AR-10 mags.
