Any Plans for a .308 AR? MAJOR UPDATE MAY 8 2014

GREAT NEWS!!
Our semi auto 308 that we call the Modern Hunter has been deemed NON RESTRICTED:dancingbanana:

Now before we get deluged with all of the how much $$, when is it available and all the other million questions, let me be very clear. We sent in a "prototype". Now we need to refine it and test the hell out of it so that we know we can supply a reliable and accurate rifle. We do NOT want a rerun of what was seen in the early offerings of a competitors rifle.
Realistically IF we had them available for sale late this year I would be amazed, we figure 2015 will be the year that these actually become available, which is really not that far away as we are already nearly 1/2 through May. Good God where did 2014 go?

What I can tell you is this rifle will accept most AR10 furniture and uses either 308 P Mags or the newer style AR10 mags.
It employs direct gas impingement and is side charging similar to the FN FAL. The trigger is single stage match style only.

We will not have the prototype back from Ottawa for a couple of weeks, so please don't ask for photos, I will post some once we have the prototype back, just so folks can get an idea of what we are making.

And the people rejoiced!

Seriously though, this is fantastic news. This could revolutionize the entire face of sporting rifles in Canada.

I would recommend editing the original post with that quote, or a link to it.

congrats, I pray to all that is holy, that this works out better the ### I know it will , as you say just take the time to work out the bugs and not Beta test on the public.
Again congrats and looking forward to owning one.

Very interesting! As others said price will be key. I was interested in a dpms repr in the coming years but this could definitely trump it depending on price, weight and accuracy. I am shure you guy's will deliver on the accuracy department.

You can't show us a picture yet but can you tell us what kind of barrel you guy's are planing? Length and profile?

Thank you

Awesome news....hopefully it won't be cost prohibitive for the average Joe. The reason the AR-15 is so successful is, function, accuracy and cost....cant wait for pics and pricing :)

AR-15 patents have expired and there is a huge competition, driving the prices down :-/

I can't ever remember following a thread for so long, having no money saved, and haveing not even seen the prototype yet been this excited. I still need to pinch my pennies just to get out of the hole. lol. Oh well, I have a little time. I think alot of people have been dreaming about an accurate non restricted semi.
Congrats. That was a rediculously long wait for classification. What a joke on all of Canadians for someone to have to wait that long to get the ok to get something to market. You guys have got alot of patience.

Can you give any information on optics mounting options? is there possibility for an integrated rail for conventional scope eye relief distances?
