Any regrets on getting yourself a GSG .22lr?

No regrets here, it's accurate and fun to shoot.

Just expect a 350$ gun :) The only disapointing thing about it is the finish, and I broke the ambi safety that was really flimsy. Beside that it shoots like a champ!

I use slide-glide lite on the rail, it loves it!

Mine has been nothing but trouble. FTF, FTE, Stovepipes from the beginning, and now a broken firing pin.

I put 200 to 400 rnds a week through it (yes, it gets lots of use). Had it for a year now. I've tried several brands of ammo, very little if any difference. I've used 7 or 8 different lubes, sprays, solvents and none make any difference to performance, except it really won't work worth a damn on grease type lubes.

Would I sell it? Nope. Don't know why.

Allot of the broken firing pins (95 percent of the ones we replaced) The customer had removed the mag safety and the pin showed signs of dry firing. The GSG 1911 is not meant to be dry fired as it's a rim fire and dry firing can damage the firing pin. The slide is designed to lock open on the last round to prevent dry firing.

Best regards,
Scott

Nope. Changed the sights to adjustable sights and couldn't be happier (also with aftermarket ergonomic grips. Left grip thumb rest and a little rise on the right grip. Fits like a glove. Forgot from where I got the grips.)

So far I love this gun. Took my 9mm along and shot it some but that .22 is so much fun to shoot. Love the feel of the 1911. Gotta buy me its big brother too. Next gun maybe a Colt. Either way I love this gun.:)

Got the PM and replied. Excellent service from Blue Line as usual.

Yes, my mag safety is gone, but the slide always locks open on the last round, so no accidental dry firing, and I don't dry fire rimfires for obvious reasons.

I cussed the GSG, but more because of the FTF FTE issues. I was annoyed the firing pin was broken, but then I did the math on what's gone down the barrell. 1/2 a brick + or -, once a week (avg) for a year. over 12 000 rnds. I would expect issues with many items with that use. Of course, I have a few rifles with twice that mileage that are still banging away.

Like I said, for some reason, I still wouldn't part with it.

Absolutely love my GSG. Price has very little to do with this statement.

I replaced the sights with FO front and adjustable rear, that was the only issue I had with the gun.

I have had zero FTFs/FTEs with any ammo I fed her, all bulk stuff, nothing fancy. GSG likes to run wet, so I re-lubed every 500 or so rounds. Light oil is the way to go on a .22, not grease. I went at least 2,000 rounds with no cleaning.

I wish my CZ Kadet was that omnivorous when it came to cheap ammo. Plus, I have had all kinds of FTFs/FTEs with the Kadet, it took a fair bit of grinding & polishing to make these problems go away.

This is now the gun I use for teaching basic skills to those who haven't shot before.

P.S. The bushing did brake, but Blueline had a replacement bushing delivered in a week.

What sights did you put on.... looking for metal sights for mine as well.

I want to know as well. I want to put some sights on mine that are more visible. I could just get some whacked out colored nail polish and do the dots, but.....

I thought I read somewhere there was an issue with replacement sights not fitting the "cut out" of the originals.

I'm wondering about other parts interchangability too. I know about 85% fit full size 1911's but don't know which ones. I'm thinking about flat backstraps etc. And are the main springs the same as other 1911's?

BTW - Blue Line has come through for me !! Excellent service.

Mine were Novak-cut. I can't find from where I bought them, but it was with the understanding that they would need a little bit of filing to fit the dovetail. I took my GSG upper to Jason (Gunco). He had it done the same day and then I spent some time finicking it with a boresight laser.

I also find that the addition of nitesiters (nitesiters dot com) dots is of immense help.

Cheers

Luv mine, too bad mag limited to 10. A 30 or 50 would be SO fun for rapid fire.

No problem with any of the cheap ammo from CCI std velocity, blazer, Win 555, Xpert, yellow jacket, AE, Fed, ... Tried more than 10 brand/type, CCI mini-mag was best.
Funny thing is got a box of expensive ammo (10 bucks for 50, german stuff in orange box) that jammed every shot.

Service from Scott at Blueline was top notch.

I put at leasat 50,000 rounds through mine and not 1 single complaint... I did drop the gun and damage the beaver tail and I chipped the slide when my friend dropped it out of the safe but it still works just fine..

I know Dlaskarms was making a drop in sight for the GSG. I have shot his 1911 and the sight on it is very nice..
