Any thoughts on the Henry lever rifles?

My Henry doesn't bother with boring old groups. You have to keep those spinners spinning. That's what they like to do best! Groups, you guys slay me. :D

Thats what happens when your used to shooting half-minute centerfires.
Gotta see how any rifle will do on paper, even the four-year olds'...it's a sickness! :p

......30k shells through it ...................
.................For 300$ its the best .22 you can buy.

Got only 29,500 till I match your current round count. You mean the ZINC receiver lasted that long???? Again I say, for $300 how can us Henry boys go wrong.

At least I gotta know how the gun works. That being said, now thats its figured out, my 5 target resettable is on its way.

Any rifle? More like any firearm!
As far as being a sickness goes, looks like most of us are infected by the dreaded "GUN FEVER". :D

Personally I am not too concerned about a zinc alloy receiver.

Alloys and synthetics have come a long way.

Its like saying that a new Audi is inferior to a 1927 Ford Model T because the Ford is "real iron and wood" not the synthetic and alloys used on new cars.

Certainly if you have the cash, there are higher quality firearms out there.
If I had $700 to spare I would love to buy a 9422, but I don't.

If I had $150,000 to spare I would love to have a H & H double rifle, but I don't.

But when a fella has $250-300 to spend on a nice lever action .22 the Henry is a great choice.

Now you're talking! Where did you order your target from?

All my sons live down South and they chipped in for my b-day present. The target is one part of the whole package. #2 son is driving up end of Jan. and will be bringing it. Its a Caldwell Resetting Target System. Dem boys know how to hit the old man's soft spot.G:

I've got the h001 as well, I paid $300 taxes in about a year ago and have not regreted it. The trigger is pretty decent, the action is smoothe and the last time I shot it from a rest I had easy dime-sized groups at 60 meters.
The front sight on mine is metal, but the barrel band is plastic.

My biggest complaint is that it doesn't come equipped to take a sling.

I would not hesitate to buy another Henry.

...............same price as Cabelas and WSS?

Prior to making my purchase (from WSS), read on CGN about pricing from Cbls and WSS. When calling the retailers (site sponsors - to remain unnamed) in my local area to ask for a "price match", no one was willing to do so.
Nevertheless, give it a try, ya got nothin to lose. Worse come to worse, at least you know where to turn to.
BTW, Wally's in the south sells these of the rack for US$269.97. We are getting a deal up here for these .22LRs and .17WMRs. Thank you WSS!!!!! :canadaFlag:Thk

Apparently pot metal and plastic has taken over the world and worse yet it has been excepted.

o no...... science and progress equals new materials to build with. O no! they have a budget rifle made with these materials...... o no!!!!!

i hate it when manufacturers create products to fill niches in the market. o no!!!!!!!!

i also hate it when i go to a thread and already have my mind made up and these people are enjoying these rifles..... o no!!!!

on another note i shout out the bullseye circle at 50 yards after i sited the rifle in. very windy and cold day.

this h0001 gonna kill some grouse and will last a long time.

Aluminum is not pot metal. Pot metal is a common name for various zinc alloys, which have been used for decades in the construction of inexpensive, low-quality firearms.

Finally pulled the trigger and picked up the frontier model today. Very nice little rifle. Couple questions for you guys. 1) Should I tear it apart and clean it before I get out and shoot it or is it good to go? 2) Can it be dry fired safely? Thanks.

The Henry's are not a machined aluminum they are a cast of sum combination of material it works because the receiver is a non functional part of the firearm. But they are still junk !!!! the model 1001 is exactly the same as the Erma model from the 70's parts interchange I used parts from a Erma to fix a henry a few days ago . In the 70's they sold for $49 to compete with the Browning BL 22 at the time $119 and it is still the same today $350 VS $679 Browning . Nothing has changed just a new generation to buy the guns and a world wide web for 4 million people to voice there thoughts as opposed to 4 guys standing around a gun shop having this same discussion . Kimber makes the Best Rimfire 22 handgun on the market today all machined aircraft quality Allumminum retails 4 $1,400.00 Henerys are not of such , standars.
