I am aware that there is not a HUGE selection of aftermarket stuff for the rem 597 but just looking to see what is out there and availible

Whether you have a 22LR or 22WMR, you can get new hammer springs from Mcquag(sic), a new hammer and a new extractor from Volquartsen, a new stock from Boyd. If you have a 22LR there are 25 round mags from Champion. Thats about it. If you have an older model you can better functioning Third Generation mags from Remington. I have seen other stocks than Boyds but I am not aware of the maker. I really, really want a 25 round mag for 22WMR!!!!

I've got the hammer and extractor from Volquartzen, I have an arch angel stock on my HB from High Cal. There's bolt handles on the EE made by a member, I bought some and they're fantastic. Stock options are limited, I'd like to ditch the tupperware on my second 597 and find a nice laminate, but they are few and far between.

I put in a Volquartsen hammer & extractor in my Yellowjacket 597. great upgrade. I got the parts from US. cost was 40 for hammer & 30 for extractor. PM me if you need a set as I have an extra. The trigger pull is now about 1/2. I think it turned a good gun into a VG gun. AJ

I don't think the DIP picatinny rail scope mount has been mentioned yet.

And if you have the heavy barrel, you can get it threaded and that lets you put some taticool farkles on it.

Last time I looked, the prairie hunter wasn't for sale any more, but that was the one I preferred, even a full thumbhole would be nice, like the Savages. The skeleton stock doesn't do much for me unfortunately.
