Anybody have a custom 600/660 rem?

Here's my Custom Rem M660 re-barrelled/chambered in .416x2". All metalwork has been gun-coted, the original wood stock has been slimmed down and painted. The plastic trigger guard has been tossed, the stock has been blind-boxed ADL style and a Rem 700ADL trigger guard installed. Weight 8-1/4lb. Recoil very manageable even with full-load 400gr.

I have a custom 6mmBR on a 600 action. [wouldn't be a bit surprised if it isn't the one Leeper built]
It has been lightened up, new bolt handle, fluted bolt, slabbed action, all hung in a very light synthetic stock.
Shilen 22" Pencil barrel, 1-10" twist.
Trigger has been replaced.
Trigger guard is metal, and has a blind magazine.
Weighs 6lbs with scope and mounts. [Leupold 3x9 compact lightweight]
Shoots very well, indeed. [No pics at present]

can i play:
heres a couple of pics of my 660 .243 win.
i,ve replaced the stock with a great american gunstocks gary goudy designed walnut,a timney trigger ,cmvw bottom metal,bushnell elite and millet low rings.
free floated barrel.it will shoot bughole groups with 87 gr handloads.

I see pics of 2pc scope bases,can you tell me what they are?
I have a Mohawk in 6mm with a one pc base and its a pain to load.

The ones on the wood stocked rifle above are weavers by the looks of them, however any 2 piece mount for the model 7 will fit, especially if you drill and tap the 4th missing hole.

Some guys run them with only the 3 but the extra hole isnt a big deal to add, and it makes it a whole lot more proper in my opinion. I would look at the talley lightweights.

That is the prettiest rifle i have seen in years!

Finally finished up the Mohawk I was working on. We wanted to give it a face lift without going crazy, and still keeping a few things unique to the series. Plus it still shot well so we wanted to keep the factory barrel.
In the end I:
-filled the sight mounting holes
-recrowned and fluted the barrel
-drilled and tapped an extra hole so we can use 2-piece M7 mounts
-removed the hump on the recoil lug
-recontoured and shortened the bolt shroud
-fluted the bolt
-replaced the lumpy safety knob
-polished off the trigger grooves for a smooth trigger face
-added an aluminum bottom metal
-reworked a factory stock and had it duplicated in laminate
-made new action screws
-tuned the trigger
-gunkoted the entire rig

The pictures are grainy and dont show the true color of things. Its a 6mm.

Ding dang it Gent's, this thread is painfull!.

Way back in the 70's, a max. .308 commercial brass'd handload found it's way into my fine shooting Mohawk, but this one single round was loaded into a DA Mil. case, ....... noob loader's mistake ..... the weak bolt handle broke clean off with some help from the 2x4 used to persuade it open.

And so it sit's, a derelict in the safe ever since.

Sorry for the derail OP, but it sure is inspiring to see what some of you fella's have built.
 
vviking.....not an uncommon thing to happen with Mohawks. That gun must be awful lonely in that safe for so long; a gunsmith could easily weld the original handle back on or machine you a new one. Did you get the bolt open or is the spent round still in the chamber?
 
D-Man.
The bolt got opened, as I can recall greasing up the bore for storage. The primer fell right out of the case. A scary incident, and a lesson in prudence/diligence was well learned that day.
The original handle, and the ugly sapwood stock are both long gone.

Will likely someday offer up the BA on the EE ...... to someone more appreciative than I of the 600's unique qualities.
Besides, am too broke to play ...... after all those ongoing Mauser projects bleed me dry!.
