Anybody hunting in Canada with 9.3x62

I don't have one, but have no doubt they will work just fine. This coming week will be a good time to give it a try. Forecast is for -37C on Thursday. :d

Let's plan to go to the range. We can also chronograph your loads to see what the velocity is at that temperature.

Well Ted, I have nothing loaded yet, I feel really bad... anyway I’m planing on trying to figure out a ladder lol... I really want to use some of that 4166 but can’t find anything about it....

I'm looking forward to trying the two types of ammo I have for my Browning BAR...

Privi Partizan PPU 285 grain round nose soft point
Hornady Custom International 286 grain Interlock Soft Point

Hoping they shoot to the same point of impact

Cheers
Jay

The privi 285 was supremely accurate in my custom 9.3, and according to Phil’s 9.3 bullet test performed much better than the Hornady 286. I wouldn’t use the hornadys on big game.

I like the privi stuff, also tried sellier bellot it was factory loaded hot, was getting flat primers and brass expanding getting stuck in chamber ..

sellier bellot we had a joke in the past about them ...seems still some issues there.

prvi is very good for the price and works great but not enough expensive for most lol ... before the wars ammo and firearms were cip.

What is the range on this caliber? I've been following this thread and am very interested. Just might be my new moose gun.

From the bench, I have regularly taken the pigs off the rail at 300 meters on our silhouette range using 286 gr loads, by holding the height of the silhoutte over its back, about ten inches. That's 328 yards, certainly much farther than 90% of the game I have shot over the past 50+ years.

Damn! that is one nice looking rig...

I totally agree... But mine jammed on the first range trip with 2 types of ammo... My gunsmith said to try other brands of ammunition, but I didn't want to soak hundreds of more $$$'s in various types of ammo to try and trouble shoot it...

Damn those browning bar looks great! I have a Belgium made 30-06 it is an awesome rifle, it would be fun to have a 9.3x62!!!

That's what I was thinking, the 9.3x62 is a cool cartridge & the reason I tried a BAR for the first (and last) time...

welcome to the family of 9.3x62 ...

Sadly, it was a short visit and I sold it with disclosure on my birthday after its unsuccessful inaugural range trip... Ad is still up in the EE if you are curious...

She sure was pretty to look at though... Sigh

That's too bad, how exactly was it jamming?

One casing failed to clear the ejection port, bolt was on back end of case & mouth of case was just a couple mm's from clearing.

Rifle also failed to pick up a new round a couple times & seat them into the chamber.

I purposefully had Gunco clean it as the previous owner said he had issues with his handloads. I thought the handloads were likely the issue, and assumed that factory would function fine.

Just watch, the new owner will get it running & I'll wish I kept it... :slap:

Did u just have the one mag?
I had issues with hot Sellar Bellot but no problem with privi in the Sauer.
I've always had excellent reliability with the BARs, only issue I had was one bad mag in my 280.Bolt was rubbing the top of mag lips.

I saw the add.... I thought about it... but I’m like you I like them to work right away!! Maybe that is why I like my Ruger no1, they always work, never jam!! It would be interesting to know from the next owner what is was the problem!!
