Anybody shooting a 260 Rem besides Bartell?

I love the 260. I had one in a Rem mod 7 which I used last year for a nice big doe. I now have a Sako 75 Hunter and will give it a go on a white tail this year. RR has a Sako 75 which we shot and got a 5/8 inch group @ 100 which prompted me to buy one. I hope it shoots as well ;)

I have a 75 Finnlight in .260 that is now my favourite gun to shoot. Its accuracy is unbelievable has hardly no recoil and its light and compact.

you can by adding an Edge and changing out the shroud/pin, and loppin' two inches off the tube :D and installing a 9 ounce scope

Hey, I have the same Remington 260 engraved rifle as well. I threw the plastic stock away and replaced it with a Bell&Carlson, had it bedded properly and some trigger work done. I've shot .5" 3 shot groups with it numerous times. I use a Nosler 120BT over 39.0 grains of Varget. I tried 130 & 140 grain bullets but I don't think the factory barrell twist is tight enough as those weight bullets I've not been able to make groups under 1 MOA. This kinda sucks, I use the rifle for hunting and I'd like to use a 130 or 140 gr slug. I suppose I could since they group about 1.25 to 1.5 " but it's so cool to know that my hunting rifle is well under 1 MOA, so I put up with the lighter bullets. I shot a muley up at Ft St John this year at 320 yards. I may rebarrell it next year, in which case I'll probably stay with the same caliber but with a 1-8 twist so that the 140's will shoot well. Or maybe I'll go to a 7mm-08, I like that caliber too.....much greater bullet selection than the 260.

I've got a very rare Remington 700 BDL S/S DM with engraved receiver and a factory 24" sportster barrel. The factory tupperware was sold and replaced with a HS Precision sportster stock. Had some issues getting a load that would shoot inside 1 MOA with this rifle but have since found that it likes H1000 and 120 BT's and 130 AB's.

I also have a SAKO 75 s/s Varminter with laminate stock and heavy fluted 22" barrel. I've set thi srig up for precision LR work on Groundhawgs and targets. I shoot Lapua Senars 108's, 123's and 139's out of this one from Nosler custom brass or Lapua 243 Win necked up. This rifle will do MOA all day long if I'm on my game.

Very comfortable cartridge to shoot and easy to load for. The VS SF II should have came out with this caliber not just the mountain rifles!

My 260

Well its almost nice enough outside to play with my new toy. Tikka varmint 260, with a 6.5 - 20 x 50 Leupold Long Range on top. just shooting some factory 120gr balistic tips for the barrel break in and when my Forster dies arrive handloading will commence. FS Prosper time to play some hookey

I have a Rem 700 VLS in 260 it loves 139 scenars and 142 match kings. Both loads shoot under .5 moa if i do my part.

I have shot 4 deer with it, none went farther than 80 yards. I use the 120 NBT factory Remington load for hunting.

Ruger 260

This was my first year for the 260, and after a bit of reloading struggles I worked up a couple of good loads. Scirocco's in 130gr. and Speer Hot Cores in 120gr. Just started working on some SST's in 129 & 140gr, showed promise but hunting season showed up. White Tail buck and doe at about 300yds. Good penetration with both using the 120 Speer. After free floating the barrel and cleaning up the trigger I can keep most groups right at 1" with 3 shots and 100yds. Always manage to get two touching and one that opens up the group.

After shooting the 6.5x55 for several years now and being totally impressed with the performance of them on game. I'm in the final decision making process of building a Rem 700 around a .260AI. Only reason I am going with the AI is since it's a custom build anyways it won't cost me anymore to get it done and the expected increased brass life makes it worth it. I plan on using the 129gr SST's and the 130gr Nosler Accubonds. Love the 6.5's

If you are claiming the kill because the deer didn't live eighty years, you've probably killed a bunch, Father Time!:p And what do bullets and cartridges have to do with old age?

Blame it on two kids under 2 at home. I corrected my spelling mistake. My apologies.

How do 120 gr bullets perform with a 1:8 twist ??? Any accuracy issues related to "over rotation"?
Anybody with some real life experience on this one?

my 260 with the 1:8 twist will put the 120 grain Nosler BT into MOA groups. I havent bothered to tinker much with that bullet.

95 grain Vmax shoot real well, around half inch, and I shot a 1.5" 15 shot group with the 100 grain Partition :)
