Anybody suggest a decent Revolver?

Egad,
Methinks Darkstang is overdoing it a bit with his cry for help over his lost Avatar. Is it a dog, snake or a grinandbear it?

S&w 586/686

S&W 586/686 are a very good choice. Good shooters, and easily tuned.
The only revolver I would consider over these is a Colt Python, but I dont have the $ for one of those beautys.

I havn't completly sold the idea to my wife yet(apparantly one new gun a year is enough :? ), but I think that before the new year I would like to purchase another revolver(already have an old .22 taurus). I'm thinking something .357/.38 for economics. I really don't know a lot about revolvers so any advice is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

One of these might do the trick? :D

Definately go with the 686 what an awsome revolver, however if you are feeling a little nostalgic and want to go old west then get a Ruger Vaqureo in .45LC of course.

686 Gp100

I have both, I prefer the trigger on a S&W. The 686 is a nice gun and so is the 627. The The Ruger is tough, built like a brick sh-thouse and will last a lifetime. That is my two cents worth.

The last S&W I sold was a Combat Masterpiece Magnum 586 mint, just because it had an eight and over barrel lenght!

I like the 586&686 but like you said a python is big bucks, have you conciderd the 4 inch python? That would be the Colt Trooper mark III!

The 586&686 have the larger thicker walls between cylinders, just like the python and Colt Trooper!

You can pick up a Colt Trooper for about 300 US!

I can't believe I am the only Colt fan here!!!

Trooper Mark111 the way to go great trigger and a pony on the reciever!!!!

The Trooper Mk III is in no way a Python. Different frame, different lockworks, grip, barrel, etc, The original Trooper (not ANY of the Mk's) was built on the same frame as the Python (as was the Official Police and a few others.) I'm not denigrating the Mk III's, I own a few of them, but they aren't a Python. - dan

I have a Smith and Wesson 586 its the same as the 686 only blued instead of stainless much cheaper it shoots like a dream Id highly recomend.

Revolver

686 is the way to go. Love mine. it is my favourite gun. 3.2 grains of win 231, (there is 7000 grains of powder in a 1 pound gan. 38 spl brass and 158 gr swc. You can shoot until the cows come home for mere pennies.

I want a new one. The current model is for sale. Email for some pics. I will make you a heck uv a deal.
