In the area where I moose hunt there are some XXL bears and a lot of blue berries. I sorta know where to look, based on the sign I see in October. The bears are on the berries starting beginning of Sept. and are usually done them by the time we go in for moose.
Anyway, I'm toying with the idea of spot and stalk black bears with the bow and arrow, starting end of Aug. beginning of Sept.
It would be a hoot to stalk a 7' blackie and take it with the bow, is what I'm thinkin'.

record the talk at the campfire,s at night will you..sound like a hoot
been thinking about it even got a few gallons of molasses to add to my bait selection but have yet to find a decent under pressured area close enough for me to get too, but i also havent had any time to get out scouting for awhile
Gonna start baiting around the 15th of july. Every three days for 2 weeks then every other day until the season opens.
I'm not seeing a whole lot of bear sign around this year so far. It may be a little more than 20 minutes in the stand this year.

Yep Ground Blinds are up, and the smoke pole is already.
Going to start baiting here come aug 1st, have a good source for bait, dounuts lots and lots!
And good bear sign few good sized 5" wide tracks.
Plan on tagging one with a 45/70! and a BP load
