Anyone else collect carcanos???

Carcano youth made by Brescia. With a plaque in honor of or for Gulli Tomaso (young man who got it or in honor of a wwi hero). Missing bayonet, often removed by worried parents...

Fred, youre killing me, these are beautiful. most of mine have been refurbed by italy so the original cartouche was sanded and the stock was reused. im looking for one with a clear cartouche but knowing me itll turn up when im broke. Fred take a look on gunbroker, there was replacement bayonet floating around for this gun. it would complete it nicely

So this is my 1914 m91 terni. Whats odd is that the stock isn't beech or walnut its ash. Ive read that they experimented with it early in the first world war. It was refurbed but I cant make out the date. I assume that's where the handguard was swapped. Thoughts????

How common are these? I don’t see a lot around but I haven’t been looking either.

Makes me wish I had kept some Carcanos :) Any of you guys' rifles have the Tiro a Segni Nacionale cartouche? We have one posted in the MKL at milsurps.com that I used to own.

yes i have several rifles that have the crossed rifles marking. According to recent research, these marking are not for accuracy, but are a proof that about 10% rifles had when they where randomly selected, disassembled, reassembled and then shot 5 round at 200 meters to assure the rifle or carbine was accurate (according to Ralph Riccio new book).

So I just picked up another M91, this one is a 1894 torino that was refurbed for the last time in 1931 judging by the cartouche. (Photo credit goes to pcvando)

That's impressive,
That is a sweet collection!! I picked up a Carcano Carbine a couple years back knowing very little about it for 200.00. It was a little beat and required a few parts, I was able to get the parts I needed from Numrich & Ammo fro Vancouver, and have yet to fire it.. One day!

Here are some pictures of my current M91 which was absolutely drenched in varnish when I got it (not carefully removed and preserved with a little BLO) and my recently added M41. I have had a few others come through my doors recently as well, which I will also attach. My M91 stock is matching - and not stamped with a refurb marking such as most! (although the stock cartouche is very light...you can still see the letters slightly and outer stamping).

This. It’s a repair/rework cartouch, might be the original stock, but it was rearsenalled in 1922.

Got to love the riparazione cartouche. To me, it is as desirable as an original stock cartouche. As long as it is not a FAT 1947-8 stamp

Figured I'd ask here since you look like an expert on Carcanos. What are the prices on Italian vs Finnish ones?
And how long have you been collecting?
