Anyone else just not like combat friendly tupperware?

Although not a big fan of polymer guns in general, and am a very big fan of the 1911 series, but I have to admit my H&Ks (P30 and HK45) are among my very favorites. Refined in their design, smooth in their operation, rugged in their reliability and blessed with decent accuracy. What else does one really require from a handgun ?

IMHO, in the end it all comes down to personal preference and how well the pistol "fits" your hand. The better it fits, the more enjoyable the experience!

Yes...i am like you and i prefer steel and wood firearms/handguns but, i have never tried a glock or a polymer. they do not appeal to me but i would like to try one. i also supposed that they are great to carry because they are light.

A 1911 is just beautiful to look at, like a work of art, plus it has history. The GP100 and other revolvers like the Blackhawks are also beauties. I think the Glock is just ugly! If I had a Glock I would probably want to start giving out parking tickets.

I have a S&W M&P 9mm which, in my opinion, is an awesome handgun and highly regarded by LEO's and the shooting community. It doesn't feel like tupperware to me ! it fills a particular niche that all other handguns represent. I also own a 1936 .38 Enfield that is also a great gun ! To each his own I guess...

With bakelite grips? That's a kind of plastic, isn't it?

Like Johnny Canuck in Post #1 I have a Browning Hi-Power and some revolvers. All steel, and except for the oldest revolver, a 1919 dated Webley MkVI with bakelite, they have wooden grips. I like them, but unlike Johnny Canuck I don't dislike polymer framed guns (haven't tried any yet) and I don't have problem with plastic on my newer rifles. As long as it works I judge each gun as an individual case against its design criteria and my use for it.
