Who else brings along a roll of duck tape on when they are hunting/camping/backing ect. I always do, sounds a little red neck but theres 1001 uses for it outdoors...

-making rope
-water proofing
-fixing tarps
-tieing off/covering a wound
-making spears
-fixing clothes

the list can go on and on:)

Couldn't resist!!

Another great use for Duct tape is fire-starter... How many of you guys knew it was a fab fire making tool? an inch sized strip, folded over on it's self and light it with a match..

When the wood is wet, and you maybe too, it works wonders at getting stubborn tinder to catch. It burns very hot, and for a long time. I learned that on a winter survival course. Any CGN member from Yukon may know Monty Alford, he had a few neat tricks up his sleeve. He has a great pocket-sized survival book worth it's weight in gold for winter/survival situations. It's full of unusual fire-starting tricks... Steel wool and a flint, paraffin-soaked lamp wick, ect. Pretty handy stuff after a cold dunk in the river or swamp.

GORILLA TAPE.....this stuff is the mack daddy of duct tape......its expensive but damn this stuff is well worth the money. It puts normal duct tape to shame

Heard a story of a plane crash in Alaska a cub and repaired with some duct tape and wire and made it home. I always carry a roll in camo of course!!!

Used it many times. Just a few weeks ago we were moose hunt (8 hours from home) and I realized I forgot my rifle sling :(

I quickly fashioned one from my duffel bag strap, a couple of lengths of metal clothes hanger and some camo duct tape. It wasn't pretty, nor was it the best strap ever made, but it did make the week easier and served the purpose.
