I know it's Apple and oranges but check out the prices of these in the U.S., still a great deal, the price will stabilize soon I think, may even go down a bit in a recession, same as antiques when folks have more disposable income, demand goes up and prices rise! When it can cost over $150 to fill up my truck, the price of those pieces of history doesn't seem all that absurd.
Refurb stock.
My concern is not them being refurbed (they clearly were), but rather "enhanced" by one of the importers from the west. It would be nice to see some clear pictures especially of stock cartouches and stock acceptance markings.
not very clear pictures but it looks like star and 1949 don't belong on this stock
Putin had mine by his bed every night while he was KGB, along with my TT33, he kept my mosin in the closet, kinda like himself! Scratched his initials in the stock VP. And a little heart then DT! Should make my sks worth a couple hundred more!I've got a 49 coming..and my gun will have been personally handled, used by Chairman Nikita Khrushchev
and no one can prove me wrong LOL
I think I can squeeze one more in my modest 39 collection.

Started out as a Mosin in for refurb, dem Russians are cagey Bugars!Gas tube and carrier look a bit off too. Hell, maybe the whole thing has been re numbered.
Nice 39 collection you got there, missing a Rasheed![]()

Nice, like the cabinet display too.Thank-you,
My collecting took off after the elimination of the LGR. I was fortunate to be able to rummage through inventory at Canadian tire and Cabalas and purchased SKS's and Mosins when they were under $200.
I know there is a lot of belly aching about current prices. As a rear guard Baby Boomer I feel my age cohort is just getting started. I am at the age where my mortgage is done, no kids to put through school and still working. The baby boomers may affect collectable cold war firearm prices going forward just as we did housing prices in the 90's and Harley Davidsons in the 2000's. Barring legislative changes of course.

Cool history, heirloom! It is actually a library from a one room school. My father used it as a kid in the 1930's. The family bought it at auction when the school closed in 1967. I went to 1 day of kindergarten (Halloween party) before they closed the school. After that it was buses for all the country kids.
