Well, $99.99 to be specific.
Anyone got one? Is it worth bringing home? Spotted some elk a couple of miles away last year with my 8x binos, would have liked more magnification.
Hoping to get into sheep hunting this year, but renoing the house and funds are low.
Don't want to spend my hard earned crappy tire money and regret it!

Yep, picked it up for 1/2 price! WOOO-HO...awwww, it sucks.

Works fine for 100yds@20x at the range, but anything past that, the depth of field is one red hair thick. Gives me an intense headache trying to focus it to a piece of paper at 200. Seriously. Sorry man, stay away:(

I've got it, also 1/2 price (it goes on sale pretty regularly!). I wouldn't even think of taking it hunting, but it works for spotting holes in paper. (Pete, I use it in 60x up to 300yds...definatley annoying but it works!).

OK for paper, useless for hunting. Wouldn't buy again.

Buy it, try it, take it back. If it works for you, great. If it doesn't, Canadian Tire has a great return policy.

They had no problems taking that scope back from me. ;)

I got one in the middle of winter, so i didn't get a chance to test it out really until spring. Turns out, it was broken new in box.

It starts out horribly out of focus, then as it gets clearer turning the focus knob, it gets tighter and harder to turn. Then, JUST when it's about to be in focus, like, half a turn more, it all of a sudden goes loose and back out of focus. This is at any magnification at any distance. At best, I can see 50 cal holes at 100 yards, nothing more.

The rub? It was after the 30 day canadian tire policy exchange period, so i'm stuck with this pos. It's not worth sending to the manufacturer.

I got mine for $40 on sale. I mean it is not amazing, but it works well enough. Not going to find something much better unless you spend 3 or 4 times the on sale price.

I am assuming you are talking about the Bushnell for $100? If so, I bought mine like everyone else for 1/2 price. I use it regular to look in the fields patterning deer and turkeys. It is nice and clear back to the 900 yards or more that I look... but only in the 20x... as you increase the magnification, the clarity goes even after trying to refocus. I never take it past 20x for that reason and it works just fine for me.

CTC spotting scope sales

.
CTC usually has a price of $99.95 on the Bushnell, but regularly sells it for a lot less. $39.95 is a typical price.

A while ago, the nearest CTC store, 60 miles away, advertised in their flyer, a Celestron spotting scope, (regularly $169,.95) for $39.95. The picture in the flyer was of the Celestron.

When I went it, I asked to see one, and the clerk handed me a Bushnell. I queried it, and was told that this was the stock number of the special. I went to the customer service desk, asked to see the Manager, and when he came, I gave him the flyer, pointed out the scope and the price, and the fact that the picture showed the Celestron but the stock number was different.

I also pointed out that an ordinary customer, who had driven 60 miles to buy one, could hardly to be expected to know the stock numbers of every Canadian Tire Product. He left to check the stock room, and came back five minutes later and said that "none were in stock."

I then pointed out to him that the TWO that were in the display case in the Sporting Goods Department must be illusions or figments of imagination, because they were on display 10 minutes ago. Off he went, and came back with one of them, and marked $39.95 on the box.

On 20 power the Celestron is quite good for hunting, and the 60 power will show 300 yard target holes. Focus is good, and I have had no problems with mine.

Cheap optics have never been worth even paying the very cheap price in my experience. It is just throwing money away. A spotting scope that won't wear your eyeballs out starts at about the $400 range and up, way up.

Agree 100% .....
migrant hunter ...... if sheep hunting is on the menu for you, a quality pair of binoculars in 10X, and a quality spotting scope are probably the best investment you could make. As Longwalker suggested to you .... cheap optics are just that ..... cheap optics.
You will be spending long periods looking through your optics .....

got one as well, at 50%off, they go on sale around Christmas and again half way through the year, i wouldnt pay full price for them, they are great for range but the angled eye piece is a bit of nuisance when hunting, with in line spoting scope its easier to find game from the direction you looking at

My advice is leave it at Canadian Tire and save a bit more money and get something better, cheap is not the way to go with optics, you don't need to spend a small fortune but these at Canadian Tire for $100 are garbage, anything past 50 or 100 yrds forget it, I'd compare it to looking through a glass of water

I own one, it is crap. I got mine at 60% off if I remember correctly. I think I paid 30 bucks. It's worth $30 bucks. Get one when it goes on sale at that price.
