There are several Canadian dealers that have extensive experience in facilitating exports to the U.S. Some of them are contributing dealers on this site. They'll charge you $150 to $200 IIRC to do the paperwork for you. They can only legally ship to an FFL dealer in the U.S., and the FFL dealer'll want a fee for doing the U.S. paperwork, too.
By the time you're done, it'll be the end of the year, anyway. Unless you expect the U.S. distributor to get delayed for months, or you expect the price to be hundreds of dollars more in the U.S. (for some strange reason), you'll probably be further ahead and happier just being one of the first to get one in the States.
