Couldn't agree more. Lots of us though, sure love the visual art and nice handling that can be found in the old school stalking rifles. Naturally, budgets dictate choice for many.

Naaa, just tweek 'em a tad & work up a load that shoots tight, and yer good to go.
I used my 91/30 more as a sit & wait rifle in a blind than as a stalker. Tight shooter with hardcast 180 gr boolits.

I don't care about what opinion you can drum up on a Google search.
Strange how others post their opinion on this forum and if not taken as an absolute take issue with others opinions as if they are wrong. An opinion is an opinion, there is no right or wrong.
The old "one rule for thee, not for me" adage comes to mind when it comes to certain topics of discussion

There's the key perhaps, you thought. As I recall, in your post #232, YOU questioned as to if google was a legit qualifier. If you don't agree with THEIR definition/clarification, give them a shout.
You can break all the laws you want, calling people a coward because they will not follow your suggestion blindly?
Posting on the internet is funny when you caution people as to the actual laws and possible legal ramifications of ones actions for doing what is being suggested online by others.
If I had a dollar for every time I heard someone say someone posted it was the right thing to do on the internet to absolve themselves of any responsibility for their own actions I would be a rich man.
"Stalk" is something you do, so when someone says they were out "stalking" for a deer, moose, elk, boar, etc. The rifle being carried becomes a "stalking rifle"
The only time a rifle on its own is a "stalking rifle" would be in the event of a name given to it by the manufacturer, like Browning has a "stainless stalker"

It is also the quickest way to 25-35 brass today.

Now that I think about it, a pretty, little five pound, break action single-shot 25-35 would make a nice stalking rifle, wouldn't it?

A single shot, break action, side hammer, double set trigger with underlugs and single Greener crossbolt, in 25-35, 25 inch barrel, with 14.5 LOP, .5 cast, 1/8 cant, DOC 1, DOH 2, butt depth 4 5/8, Tessier or Oregon Walnut, no cheekpiece, integrated quarter rib with two leaf express sights, unbanded front sight, barrel mounted sling, and medium powered vintage scope...to be precise!
Pretty close. Rust blued, three cartridge trap with name engraved, leather covered butt pad to keep it from sliding off one's shouder, and.... the fixed sight regulated for 117 gr cast RN bullets with 20 gr of 3031, the hinged one for 100 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips ahead of 35 gr of the same.
What finish and checkering pattern on the wood?
Maybe just a 219 Savage will work?

Didn't even consider the trap. I wonder if it'd shift the balance around a bit? I'd keep a metal butt plate, widow's peak; not sure about the load regulation but probably a bit on the heavier bullet, lighter construction, like the old Imperial 6.5 140 gr round nose soft point, both sights regulated for same.
A 219 may have to do...

My browning a-bolt micro medallion chambered in 284win and topped with a leupold 2-7 scope is a fine little stalker. The tang safety short bolt lift and 20" barrel make it fast handling.
