anyone have any experience with BRNO mod 2?

Brno

Hi, I had a BRNO CZ604 in a .223cal, these are well built rifles that usually can produce nice tight groups, mine sure did. I regretably sold it before realizing what a gem I actullay had.

Don:
I asked basicaly this same question on another forum and got a huge BUY IT response. I did and I love it. It is accurate, over built (being basicaly a minnature mauser), and its pretty! heres a pic...

They are a GREAT little rifle and I'm sure you'll love it if you purchase one! Oh I paid $250 for mine. it is in superb condition and came with a little 4x scope (not the 3-9 pic'd)

Hope this helps!

Brno .22s

I second everything Leelad said, I've been researching these rifles for quite a while now, and apparently they are just terrific. If only I could find myself one... (looking for a model 4).

An aquaintance of mine who is a gunsmith replied the following when I told him I was looking into getting a Brno:

"The Brno firearms are excellent value, and I've never seen one that didn't shoot well in 29 years of working in the business. Those older models such as the Model 1's and Model 2's are fine, classic, European style guns. I think that part of the reason they shoot so well is that the bore dimensions are a bit tighter in size than North American production .22 rifles. We had to modify a bore stud for our scope bore sighter to fit into the CZ / Brno barrels because the are so tight in comparison to standard .22 rifles. I see those older models occasionally, but don't have anything like that in the rack just at the moment. If you want the heavy barrelled target version, those older model 3's and 4's are terrific, and not usually too high a cost. They came into Canada as "military surplus" rifles from Europe through an old Canadian distributor "Century Arms" that was based in Montreal years ago."

I have three articles taken from an Austrailian gun and hunting magazine that are quite in depth in regard to these rifles, I would be glad to pass them along to you, just PM me you're e-mail and I'll send 'em off.

I have one and will never part with it. It is very accurate. If you can find one for under $300.00 buy it you will not be sorry. Come to think of it I may know where you can get one.
Let me know and I will make the phone calls.

all Brno or cz 22's are great, I've had just about every model and have yet to come across one the did not shoot, I have a model 2E right now that I would never part with....if you don't mind the extra weight find your self a model 4 or 3...and if you want a true classic find your self a model 1 with flip up sights

They are not over built, NO gun is ever over built. They are exactly the way firearm should be built. Rock sturdy without plastic and stamped metal el cheapo parts. Even they are not perfectly built they are nicer than other in industry. I do not like cheap looking trigger guard. But I like them because they are deadly accurate.

SIG: I agree with your statement that NO gun can be "overbuilt".
All I meant by "overbuilt" was that this isn't your typical .22 action whos design is never seen in a centerfire. This is basicaly a mauser action that (though minaturized) is built to "centerfire standards". an example of this would be the 3 gas vents (one on each side of the reciever and one in the top of the bolt)
I havent seen too many .22's with these kind of bigbore features.
