Brno .22s
I second everything Leelad said, I've been researching these rifles for quite a while now, and apparently they are just terrific. If only I could find myself one... (looking for a model 4).
An aquaintance of mine who is a gunsmith replied the following when I told him I was looking into getting a Brno:
"The Brno firearms are excellent value, and I've never seen one that didn't shoot well in 29 years of working in the business. Those older models such as the Model 1's and Model 2's are fine, classic, European style guns. I think that part of the reason they shoot so well is that the bore dimensions are a bit tighter in size than North American production .22 rifles. We had to modify a bore stud for our scope bore sighter to fit into the CZ / Brno barrels because the are so tight in comparison to standard .22 rifles. I see those older models occasionally, but don't have anything like that in the rack just at the moment. If you want the heavy barrelled target version, those older model 3's and 4's are terrific, and not usually too high a cost. They came into Canada as "military surplus" rifles from Europe through an old Canadian distributor "Century Arms" that was based in Montreal years ago."
I have three articles taken from an Austrailian gun and hunting magazine that are quite in depth in regard to these rifles, I would be glad to pass them along to you, just PM me you're e-mail and I'll send 'em off.
