Bought 2 butler creek magazines for the 10/22. Steel lip 25 round count. Both jammed right out of the box using federal champion. Same ammo feeds flawlessly with the factory rotary mag so I'm sure it's not the ammo.

Noticed that the spring was sticking and not pushing the rounds up, did some research so I left it loaded for a few days.

Still jamming. I noticed that once you put in more than 12 rounds that the angle of the cartridge would change and sit lower than it is supposed. This caused the tip of the bullet to catch on the edge of the steel lip and not feed out of the mag. I am contemplating filing that part so it can feed clear of the edge.

Any other suggestions before I make permanent alterations and throw them away???

I'd say return them and try again. I have 6 of them that will chew through any round nose .22lr. I don't recommend spraying anything in them, after running them the lube will collect dirt and carbon like crazy.

I bought 3 from Cabelas. 2 worked okay, one would not feed at all as the rounds were not angled up and the bolt wasn't stripping them off the mag. Returned it, the replacement fed 100% but so far I've only had the chance to put 1 string of 25 rounds through it.

They make you emails pictures to a product specialist. Anywho, figured I would share the pictures. On the left is the mag loaded with 13 rounds and bad feed angle. Right is mag loaded with one round and proper feed angle.

Mine was exactly like your one on the left. The two times I've had to return things to Cabelas they've never made me email them any pictures, I just filled out the form on the back of the invoice and they sent my replacement stuff.

I had one that did that and I found that it was the follower sticking because of manufacturing debris left inside. I pushed the follower down with a screwdriver and blew the mag out with compressed air and after leaving it with 20 rounds in it for a few days and then a few partial loadings run through the gun it worked fine. It may have worked fine after the compressed air but I did the other things without testing it first.

I have a few of those magazines, they all had a lot of FTF and FTE problems at first but after I loaded them and shot them through and loaded them again a few times they started working flawlessly and I don't have any issues with them anymore (all steel lips).

I used wax coated blazers

I loaded and shot mine with 10 rnds first and fired them off. Then loaded 15 each and fired them off, then loaded the full 25. Not a single issue. Now my buddy who loaded his to 25 right off the bat had issues but by the end of the range day they ran flawless.
