When USGI 1911's were cheap...
Now that's a blast from the past! I remember going to Lever Arms with 2 buddys in around 1989 and picking through a case of surplus USGI mix-master pistols. We bought 12 of them that day & Alan Lever charged us $100 each plus PST. [Was prior to GST coming in]. Some of them were missing grips and most had crappy old barrels but they were all fully functional. My share of the 'stash' got a thorough detail strip & cleaning, a new set of GI plastic stock [at the princely sum of $5 each] and I sold them off for $250 each. I still have one of the 'lowers', a 1942 USGI Colt frame, that I use with my Colt .22 Conversion Unit...
