Does anyone else here hunt the misc hunting properties offered by the Grand River Conservation Authority? I've mostly hunted and explored the properties close to Waterloo and Guelph but I haven't yet paid the properties up towards Mount Forest and the Luther Marsh a visit.
If anyone else hunts these lands, share your intel! I'm planning on making a trip up to the northern properties around Mount Forest sometime soon, primarily to scout for good coyote, turkey and rabbit properties. If anyone hunts or has hunted these properties, I'd appreciate any pointers as to which tracts are more promising than others.
For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about...the Grand River Conservation Authority has 20 or so properties, all of which are 100 acres+, which are huntable by a special permit. It costs $65 for the year (Sept to last day of Feb, open again for Spring turkey) and the one permit covers all the properties (their year being Sept-May rather than the calender year). You have to be a member of OFAH to acquire the permit.
Hiking and walking your dog, having a picnic etc is permitted for free so you could scout the tracts ahead of time to decide if its worth the cost of the permit or not if you like.
Anyhow..if anyone else hunts these areas let me know if they're any good for coyote, turkey and rabbit.
