I watched a video many years ago, where the guide put gunny sack cloth over him and his hunter and slowly walked into range of the target buck, who watched them approach, but wasn't alarmed, as the cloth broke up their human outlines. I thought that was a pretty good trick. Still need to try it myself.
I flagged my daughter's buck with a white game bag this year to get into a better shooting position. She's a small 12yo and couldn't get a good shot due to terrain and sage brush. I took out a white game bag, held it up around my head and we inched ourselves to a good shooting spot. He buck was unbothered, kept feeding and looking at us, back to feeding.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm happy to look like a clown with a game bag wrapped around my head while my daughter shoots a buck!
