Webley states they will produce them if they receive 1000 deposits of $100. Production would undoubtedly be outsourced, but still incredibly cool. Go to webleyandscott.com and click on "click here for gunmakers".

I have just put a comment on their facebook page re 38 special etc.

If you want this to be in another calibre then add a comment hopefully if there enough interest we can get this in a decent calibre.
Collectors will want this in .455 but then again collectors will want an original ex military webley not a modern rerun.

Hmm.... kind of smells of a scam.

Went to http://webleymkvi.com/... "100 Year anniversery model" And under the video (which is excellent), "Video with grateful, acknowledgment..." (unnecessary comma)

If they can't spell (or at least proof-read) their home page, something isn't right. No contact information (aside from the online form to join.) No mention of the expected final price.

A WHOIS search came up with this:

Domain Name: WEBLEYMKVI.COM
Registrar: WEBFUSION LTD.
Sponsoring Registrar IANA ID: 1515
Whois Server: whois.123-reg.co.uk
Referral URL: http://www.123-reg.co.uk

OK, OK, I'm reading too much into this with my tinfoil hat on. Just thought I'd do a little digging.

The sad thing is, if it is legit, they won't be available in Britain. How ironic. :)

Webley folks, dig out your treasures and a tape. Are the cylinders a tad short for more mainstream chamberings like 38spl or 45 LC?
Just pondering this as it seems like Webleys always seem to be in 38 S & W or 455; both stubby little ' fire hydrant ' looking rounds.

The fears of a scam are understandable, but really; Webley has been around since the late 18th century. We are not dealing with a Dornaus and Dixon here.

Absolutely right. Mine measures 1.500", as specified in the original drawings.

Figured as much, at 1.55" that's too short. 9mm Luger would be a thought; I'm not sure if Webley would be willing to retool for a more popular modern cartridge. But it would be worth it too run moonclips to get to run ' off the shelf ' 9mm and 45 ACP IMO

My guess (my attempts to contact the late Mssrs. Webley & Scott via ouija board having proven unsuccessful) is that they will stick with the original specification for .455. They may use stronger steels - which would theoretically allow the use of more powerful cartridges, as the Webley round only produced around 12k. If it succeeds I can see them maybe producing a .38 S&W version, and if it REALLY took off, maybe a Target .455 or Mk IV with birdshead grips (which would be "prohib." here as most were 4"), but I'd think the market will be too small for variants.

It's a pretty brave move to try and reintroduce this, esp. as there will be no market in the UK itself. I'm guessing that Canada & the US will be the main markets, depending on the final price.

Now if someone (maybe one of the Italian companies) would start making Martini rifles again...

Totally agree with josquin on new Martini's. Maybe a .45/70 and a .32/20 rather than .577/450 and .310 (I do shoot my .310 and .577/450 but ammo is MUCH more problematic than .455).

Hmmmm.....45 Auto Rim would work pretty well, I think. It's not easy to find, but at least it's still in production....

I have a .310 as well, and a CBE mould that I've never got around to gettijng the rest of the gear for to roll my own. As I also have a spare barrel I'm seriously thinking of getting Ron Smith to rebore it to .357 if he's still in business. :)
