just wondering how many of you like to sleep in the bush.I do I am addicted to it.this started a couple years ago.it started mild but now I crave it.it all started when I decided to sit and watch a feild for a while and fell asleep it was the most relaxing sleep ever.since then I sometimes lookforward to going for a hunt or a walk in the bush just so i can lay down and have a nap it always makes me feel so rested.windy days are the worst I will find a spot out of the wind and sleep for an hour or so then keep hunting.I always laugh when I think about how spooked someone could get if they walked up on me.any one else like to take a nap in the bush?

I hear ya impala... The bush is the one place that I feel truely at home... The more remote the better.

Cheers

Infact, I found myself dosing a couple different times today while out deer hunting.

I would sit on a stump to watch a deer path near a stream, and the next thing you know my head is nodding. Yea it is relaxing but I'm sure id find myself out for more than an hour.

There are different pooping techniqes in the bush.

Good book:

Do it quite often.
Drive to the huntiung spot very early (leave at 02:00) get there and do a morning hunt on foot, have a snack and ose off a bit, then still hunt on the way back .
Works great!

I can see how that might be enjoyable. Never tried it but I have been out in the bush in the middle of thousands of acres of crown land and love the serenity! Will try it next time. LOL :D

I would have to agree with you folks indeed. The fresh air makes for a wonderful nap.

BUT.

Guy's..... why the heck are you taking a nap in the middle of a hunt? I mean, what if mr buck went walking by and you missed your shot at him because you were sleeping? or what about waking up to a grizz or blackie tapping you on the shoulder lol.

Aside from that. I enjoy the odd sleep out on my back deck when it is a nice night out and early in the year "skeeters are aweful up here in the summer"

I thought cougars really enjoyed getting a light snack from a sleeping deer hunter? I'm not too worried about a grizzly or black bear bothering me while I'm sleeping as long as I'm not curled up around a slab of bacon. But those big cats make me a bit more leery about dozing off on the ground.

I love those early fall naps in the afternoon, after lunch, when the weather is nice, and all is good. Also like those late fall naps, maybe back in the truck or by a fire that you built after a morning hunt...

One of the best naps I ever had was on a pile of rocks, afer lunch, somewhere in the Chilcotin. I will never forget it.

We glassed all morning, then rode the horses to another spot to glass.

The sun came out, we got hungry and had lunch. Afterwards, the 3 of us started to glass, then doze off...Lying there in the sun, on jagged rocks, was one of the best sleeps I had. Eventually the horses got restless and we woke up. Never forget it.

One other nap that I will never forget is when I climbed to the back of a clearcut, ate lunch, dozed off, then woke because I had a strange feeling.

Looked up , and there was a cougar in the tree right above me. Not as much of a restful sleep, and I didnt' even get the rifle in action fast enough!!:p

If you ever lie down on a South facing slope after lunch in a bed of needles under a white pine tree with the wind in the pine branches and the sun warming you up on a cool day, you will have just found the nicest place there is to take a nap in the bush.

I can't say I do it on purpose, but I must enjoy it because it seems I take one at some point every year. One year we were moose hunting and I dozed off watching a cutover and it started a light mysty rain which didn't wake me up but sure made for a cold 50km quad ride back home. It's the closest I've ever had to hypethermia.

Saturday night I slept in my tent in the bush on my hunting trip. 10:30pm I got to listen to a pack of yotes attacking something. 3:30am I woke up to wolves around my tent barking at the tent then howling.

But ya, its very peaceful... lol

I spend about a month out of the year sleeping in the bush. The trick is to have a good sleeping bag and good boots, cause if you ain't in one, you are in the other......
