I’m also in the same boat.Looking to buy a new buffer for my fx-9.Anyone know who sell them in Canada.
First. You can order buffers from the US , a Google search will provide you ample sources. Most ship to Canada, a simple email will confirm whether the specific vender will or won't.I’m also in the same boat. Looking for a heavy buffer or tungsten weights to add to OEM FX9 buffer to bring my buffer weight up.
The heavier aftermarket buffers I’ve heard tell of seem hard to find in Canada.
New to the platform so any insights much appreciated.

Check out vendors listed as sponsors of this site will answer the Cdn. sources.
Weigh your bolt and buffer. You need a total weight of 21-23 oz. total. It falls to how much you want to spend. From my experience to hydraulic buffer gave me the softest feeling recoil but is expensive. Lockhart offers an adjustable buffer system. I use it in my FX9. My Ravon9 wears the hydraulic buffer.
If I was younger and just entering PCC and had more demand on my disposable income then I do now I would be looking for an 8 to 10 oz used buffer that will get you to the recomended weight and spend any excess funds on practice. I am certain there are used buffers around as shooters search for the elusive perfect setup.
PM me if you want info on the latter suggestion.

What is that handguard? So ###y.Yup, the load with the comp, and the hydraulic buffer system changes it from a fun range toy to a very capable competition PCC (warning: user error can and will diminish results... Especially when under the clock).
Madcow and a few others of us across the country have been doing research all year and trying to share it with anyone who wants to listen. PCC is NOT a crime!!View attachment 834436
Hoping to find out if the Lockhart adjustable buffer would fit the FX9 tube as well, anyone tried this on a new FX9? Thank you.
Yes that’s basically my angle - looking for an 8-11oz new or used buffer that fits and works in the FX9.
Ideally not looking to spend a fortune, but expecting to pay a bit.
The Lockhart buffer is in my financial ballpark. Does it fit in the FX9 without interfering with the LRBHO? I thought it might be a little long. Any modifications/supplementary parts required?
I also saw this;
https://www.rdsc.ca/bravo-company-usa-mk2-buffer-mod-1-t4.html
Needs a different buffer tube and M16 spring, but all parts available at RDSC. Probably more expensive than the Lockhart, and maybe not as heavy.
Any feedback or other suggestions much appreciated. As I said I’m new to the platform so compatibility issues are what concern me. Most aftermarket buffers seem to be for the AR15 pattern with little info on their compatibility with the FX9.
Yes the Lockhart buffer will fit in the FX9. I have it installed in my FX9. My raven gets the Hydraulic Buffer. Weigh your bolt, bolt carrier. You need to get to 21 - 23 oz in total weight. The buffer you referred to weighs 7oz. which I think is to light. Let us know what you find what weight you need to get to the target combined wight you need to get..

That is the Toni systems handguard. You can order it directly from them in Italy... A bit pricey but exactly what I wanted and only 7oz including barrel nut (almost 1/2 the weight of the stock one)What is that handguard? So ###y.
I’m not sure about the scheel RDB system but I emailed freedom ordnance asking if the maxim defense AR9 RDB buffer would work in the FX-9 and they told me no. Couldn’t find anyone online that has tried anyway to see if it would work.Heavier buffer like the one mentioned above is one route.
From the research I have done the sweet spot for any straight blowback 9mm is combined weight of ~22 oz. From memory the FX9 bolt is 11 ounces (don't recall what the stock buffer is but it was on the light side for the 22 oz target I had)
In the end I went with a Kynshot hydraulic buffer and 2 weights (needed longer tube to fit it all in) and flatwire spring. This combo got me to exactly 22 oz.
I have ran ammo from 130PF to 175PF through it and the recoil is almost non existent.
The other route you could go is with a delayed blowback system of some kind. These don't need as much weight to run correctly as the locker mechanism does some of the work the weight would do and resists / holds the bolt from moving when the cartridge is first fired. I would love to try one of these as I suspect that if setup correctly would be the lightest recoiling / best feeling all round system on offer (this is what the MP5 uses and it is the gold standard all other guns are compared to).
From what I can tell the only downside with roller delayed is that it overcoming the locker mechanism will make pulling the charging handle heavier.
Yes the scheel works on the FX-9. It uses a proprietary buffer tube and has no captured rod. You do have to tune it with the different springs, but we had a top shooter using it in his FX-9 this season, worked well.I’m not sure about the scheel RDB system but I emailed freedom ordnance asking if the maxim defense AR9 RDB buffer would work in the FX-9 and they told me no. ACD what you are saying, just to be clear, the scheel wont work in the FX9 in stock form. It requires a proprietary buffer tube. Right?

Sadly been out of stock for well over a year.
