Anyone own a Mossberg 500 J.I.C (Just in Case) shotgun? Unboxing Pics Post #39

The one in the first vid I posted?

The one in the video appears to be metal , mine is a side folder made of hard plastic with a built in 5 shot shell holder . I can feel some flex in it when I fire slugs , but overall it seems to work good and is very light weight....

My J.I.C no longer fits in the tube, but I like how it turned out :yingyang:

I've been eyeing these up for sometime now..... just cant seem to hit "confirm order".... lol

The tube looks huge! Is it practical to sling on your back if in the woods?

Don't know, tube lasted about 30 minutes on the EE before it sold to another CGN'r. After I put the wood furniture on it wasn't going to fit, so I sold it.

I doubt that any 500 folding stocks would fit in the JIC tube.

I have a Choate top folder on mine, definitely the ugliest top folder but it is very strong, reliable and works well plus Choates support for spare parts is phenomenally good ie. They sent me a new butt pad plus mounting hardware gratis from the US on an ancient stock I bought used.

Its really the lid that is hardest to duplicate, not the tube. Its a large wingnut that when tightened cinches the rubber seal and plastic insert so that its waterproof tight

A professional plumbing wholesale like Crane Supply or BA Robinson retails those little beauties as test plugs, brand name 'gripper'. They are also available in galvanized steel instead of plastic if you prefer. Sizes up to six inch diameter, you might even be able to get eight inch as a special request. How much are you yahoos paying for these tubes? I throw out two to three foot scraps of PVC pipe every week....maybe it's time to start bringing them home from work, lol!

I hear a lot of people bragging about their "homemade J.I.C tube" but yet nobody has posted theirs when asked. So unless someone can post theirs and the price paid for all the parts, they need to bring it down a notch. Compare the price paid for a pistol grip 500 and a pistol grip J.I.C setup and the price difference is very little.

Anyone who creates one from scratch, please post pics of yours with cost analysis and make sure it contains the survival kit, 2 large zip lock bags (3 foot and a 4 foot), tube, locking device with wingnutt, 2 styrofoam pieces and the sling. I'll even forgive the decals. Of course, it has to fit a pistol grip shotgun as well.

If you can't do that, you need to move along. Instead of talking about it, do it and prove it.
