Anyone planning a move if election is unfavorable?

Hello everyone, fairly new to the site so this is my welcome. It seems there is a strong political presence. I'm curious where people may be planning to move to if the election goes bad. (whatever that may mean for you) Are people leaning towards America or somewhere further? America would be the smoothest transition but it would be nice to get away from politics. Let me know what you are thinking

You are going to get some very mixed replies.

Canada has certainly changed tremendously over the last decade, and imho, not for the better.

The issue is, where does one go? Immigration to other countries can be immensely difficult, unlike to Canada where citizenship comes in a cornflakes box.

Other countries have also changed. I know some Canadian/American (dual citizens) who are also forum members here, and they would never think about moving to the USA now. They have some major social issues down there, their education is abysmal, crime is very high, etc. None of that will get fixed anytime soon. Also some of their firearms laws are actually worse than in Canada, state dependant.

Where does one go? Europe? Same mess, if not worse. Australia / NZ? If you thought it was bad here, they are far more draconian nowadays.

So one has few options. All I can say is get out and vote this federal election.

Only quitters and cry-babies leave when they don't like the result. This is a democracy and we are lucky to live in it. Vote at the ballot box and with your wallet if you don't like how things are going. If you want to get away from politics, don't going looking for them and post about them.

While divorce is more common today than a change of underwear, I would rather keep the family together if possible. If not and they take my firearms. I will probably leave, go fish the British Virgin Islands for Tarpon and Bonefish. Pretty sad for me to even think it, as a seventh gen Canuck. The family came here to find the promised land with a land grant from the king for one of the original 11 titles that divided P.E.I.
I have never seen the island but will visit before I go. To meet the people... and fish if I can't hunt. I'm not giving up.. just planning an exit if needed.

Unfortunately it seems like most countries are spiraling to the bottom so like was said where does one go?
Wexit is certainly an option to start a new country fresh but in due time I think it would suffer the same fate as liberals and leftists would slowly invade and change the rules and turn a once great country into a $hit hole like what is presently happening here in Canada

some of the European countries like Finland and Czech seem to have reasonable gun law.
The only problem is can you learn a new language and do you have the skills that they need
 
If you asked me in 2015 it would be a hard no. I will be retiring in the next 5 years and depending on how the election pans out I may end up transferring to Alberta or moving to Panama when I'm retired. Hopefully we can turn things around but, hope for the best plan for the worst. What I find interesting is that whenever I bring this up to Liberals they get so offended. Can't understand why people who absolutely hate people like us get angry when we don't want to be around them, likely because they know things wouldn't run if we left.

I didn't allow the Liberal garbage to drive me out of my country but after 60 years in Hamilton I didn't recognize nor could I stand my city anymore. I moved North last year and the lack of liberalism up here is so refreshing!

Some have already followed up on advice from financial advisors and purchased properties outside of Canada.

Having an Air BNB property that brings passive income but can become a primary residence is a comfort well worth working towards.
 
The company I work for has a major presence on both sides of the border. The results of this particular election notwithstanding, I've been seriously considering a move south for a long time now. This may very well be my tipping point as far as making a decision to move.

People love to blame all of Canada's woes on Trudeau. And I most definitely don't have a good thing to say about the man. But he was but a mere symptom of the overall disease that this country has had for 75ish years now. The rot set in when my grandfather was a middle aged man and has only gotten worse with each generation that comes. The Overton window keeps being pushed further and further to the left. To the point where any man who founded the country would see very little of their original vision in modern Canada.

It's an absolutely beautiful country with some of the best hunting in the world. But for me, that's about all it has going for it. And, as I get older, that matters to me less and less. Freedom matters more.

Tl;dr: Maybe.

I've said it many times before, move to Northern Canada somewhere, it's still Canada up here, small town values, most people own firearms, great hunting and fishing, 1950's type values. Sure, there's limited shopping opportunities, and some drug problems, but at least everyone knows who the meth heads are, and after they break into your vehicle, you can go to their residence and demand your items back under threat of a beating, and they usually comply, lol.
