Anyone put a Black Scope on a Stainless Barrel???

I have a Stainless Steel, Savage Weather Warrior in .300win mag that I bought from Ellwood Epps on order, waiting to be delivered, that will be primarily a hunting rifle, although it will go to the range occasionally. I have a Burris Fullfield II 3x9x40 sitting in a box at home (taken off of a rifle that I just sold).

Shooting straight, and Accurate are my primary concerns. However, it is nice to have a ###y looking rig, to show off at the hunt camp in the fall. That is why I asked to see some pics of a black scope on a stainless barrel, because from the pics I have scene of a Stainless barrel, and Satin(silver) scope combo, looks pretty nice IMHO. I think I will put my Matte Black Burris scope on the rifle, with Stainless rings and base for now, just to save myself a few bucks. So far, I like the looks of that set-up the best.

I may bring my new rifle to the local shop, and just see what it looks like with a new silver scope on it, IF I don't like the looks of the black one mounted to it in person, But from all the pics I have scene here so far, I think I will like it.

Thanks for posting all the pics, its been re-assuring to see how good they all look with a black scope.

Never found a silver that was even close to the barrel colour. The contrast looks much better than two close but not close enough colours.

ain't nothin' wrong with that.
My silver scope on one of my guns scratches easily and makes it look ugly. I have a black scope of stainless Marlin 336 and looks pretty.

My Marlin bolt has a heavy stainless barrel with black scope... It made the rifle the moment i put it on ... Never liked the nickel scopes though .... too much flash in my opinion... Nice black scope really makes the barrel pop out if your lookin for that cosmetic appeal ... personally .... whatever floats yer boat!! Get out and shoot!!

Personally I think the silver/grey scopes are ugly no matter what the set up is. Not to mention a matte black scope will out sell silver/grey any day if you decide to get rid of it. I also think matte black scopes should be mounted in matte black rings.

x2. never liked silver scopes much. i think a matte black scope/rings/rail looks fine on stainless.

silver scopes are super ugly IMO...they're just too bright and "out there" for me......I'd never put one on a real rifle....
all my stainless rifles have matte or gloss black scopes.

Okay guys, you convinced me. I am definetely mounting my Matte Black Burris Fullfield scope to my new Savage Weather Warrior. I do like the looks of the Nickel Mounts and Rings. However, I will only buy them in that colour if the Shade of Silver is very similar. I don't want that two tone look from the mount and rings either. If it is not possible to make the Stainless Barrel match the Mount and Rings, then I will buy the Black Mount and Rings.

I am doing it. I have a Sako Finnlight 7mm-08 and will be putting a Leupold 6X on it, in matt finish. I am using stainless bases and blued rings. I think it will look good.

I have several rifles that have either black or silver scopes on them. The guns look great either way. Colour differences bring a bit of glitz to the appearance.

I prefer black scopes on my rifles, regardless of action and bbl, but am not totally adverse to a silver scope in silver rings/mounts. I do really prefer the rings/mounts to match the scope rather than the action - black scope = black rings/mounts. Sorry James .

I've got two stainless rifles with matte black scopes and silver rings and bases. I like the contrast between the black scope and silver rings. If I had a camera right now I'd post pic's.

All 4 of my stainless rifles have matt black scopes on them. Looks fine to me. Kinda balances the look with a black stock.

Haha I dont mean to beat a dead horse, but I agree with most people, it may have taken you off guard, but yes most people like black scopes on their stainless rifles. Or also because most scopes come in black..
