Anyone know of a place in Canada to buy these .22 LR dummy rounds from?
Not sure who makes them but Rimfiresports.com sells them, but will not ship these internationally for some reason.
They look alot nicer then those orange plastic ones that I see always.

Those look pretty real .... what do you want to do with them ?
I think the orange ones would be better because then you can see the difference between a live and a dummy round.

These ones are begging for a shooting accident imo

Not the same ones, but I used these as snap caps in my .17 HMR The firing pin does damage it, so after I use them 6-7 times, I switch to a new one. Several come in a pack.

I bought a large number of dummy rounds from a guy on this site. There were 12, 16, 20, 28, 410, and various rifle. Some snap caps were included. I think there were some for 22 & 22 Mags i'll check tomorrow.

Well I have used the orange plastic ones before, but I find they do not last very long when you are manually doing feed testing for semi-autos. They sometimes jam up in the magazine and plastic bits shave off them. The ones pictured above have a lead bullet and metal case. The lead bullet gives the dummy round a more accurate weight and the metal casing stands up better then the plastic ones. I don't want these for training purposes or to use at the range. Just strickly for tuning of the firearms action.

I guess I might have to machine my own dummy rounds from solid brass bar-stock if I can't find these ones. :)

Thanks .22LRGUY . I have seen those dummy rounds in centerfire before, but didn't know they made them for rimfire. Might be worth trying some of them before making my own. I already have enough projects on the go and really don't need another one. HEHE :D

Those cartridges, or items like them, were part a of a cartridge kit issued for CORE FA training and for the early Federal FA safety course.
Maybe not readily discernible but the hole in the base indigates inert. Similar to the holes seen in the case walls of CF cartridges.
It's not an accident waiting to happen it just takes a little education and understanding of what you're handling.

I picked up some aluminum dummy rounds from Wholesale Sports a few months back. They are painted blue and will be ruined by repeated firing pin strikes. They do work well for testing actions though. Came in 6 and 12 packs.

Those are (were?) made by Brownells. They cannot be shipped outside of the USA without a special export permit because they contain an actual bullet (that terrorists could subsequently use to attack the USA).

To quote Azoom's website: "These .22 Rimfire dummy rounds are not snap caps"

They are designed for function testing and classroom training, not for protecting firing pins and chamber edges during dry-firing.

I bought a number at gun shows years ago . I used to use them for teaching courses but I use the orange plastic ones now.
Other than Brownells I have not seen them for sale for a number of years.

I am just going to order a pack of six of the anodized blue ones for function testing of actions and get some more of the orange ones for dry firing.

Thanks for your input everyone. :)

Anyone know of if any of the online gun / hunting supply stores in Canada carry them?

Can you soak live rounds in a chemical that would nuetralize the powder turning them to dummy rounds? Do not try it, just asking

Depending on the gun you're using and the amount of dry firing that you're planning to do, you might want to just remove the firing pin or get a second one and cut off the tip...

Well I found this to be strange. I was going to order some of those blue anodized dummy rounds from Wholesale Sports but during the checkout process it asked me for my PAL # . For some reason the website checkout system treats the dummy rounds as ammunition. Anyone have that happen before?

Guess I will have to give them a call and see what is up with that.

if your just using them for dry fires and not function testing. Some one on here suggested the use of plastic drywall anchors. I haven't tried it myself, you could always use a spent case as well.
