anyone shoot 30.06 long range?

If I were using my 30-06 as a long range chambering, I would be shooting bullets from 175 - 210 grain.
I have a very accurate M700 Remington sporter that I loaded some Sierra 190 MK's for and shot them out to 1000 yards.
I chased them with IMR4831, and groups were quite good, with 5 shots frequently staying inside 9"
No flies on this 100+ year old winner!!
Regards, Eagleye.

I used the 06 as my first f-class rifle. Worked great. I ran the 178 A-max over 48.5 of varget. No pressure and had great performance. With the availability of lapua brass I wouldn't shy away from it again. Piper.

Having met about 250 shooters in the last 6 years, only about 3 were using 30-06 rifles.
Hmmm has it lost its shine?
The 30-06 would be in F-Open correct.

So who makes a good heavy bareled 30/06?

Ones I ever seem to see are hunting/tapered barels.

First you buy a receiver, then a quality barrel, then a stock that fits the game you're playing. Find a gunsmith you like and you're done. If you have a rifle with a shot-out barrel you're two steps ahead of the game. Best results will be with hand loaded ammo.

Thanks to Timmy for posting the link to my website. I guess to answer the original question, I shoot the .30-06 at long-range matches and do it almost weekly. Last week I had a nice 590-28X (of a possible 600-60X) on the US long range target (2 moa 10 ring, 1 moa X ring). I shot the 200 gr. with H4831sc, the other load I shoot frquently at 1000 is the 190 with H4350 (2800 fps from a 28" barrel).

I usually place well with the .30-06, top three in most cases. There are many articles on my site related to the .30-06 for competitive use, but this one seems to be the most popular so it's a good entry point: http://riflemansjournal.########.com/2011/04/cartridges-sibling-rivalry-308-vs-30-06.html

I don't get around to check the forum as often as I would like, but if anyone wants to chat about the .30-06, feel free to drop me an email. german.a.salazar AT gmail.com

thanks for posting, nice to see someone else who puts this caliber to use and is willing to share their info. from the looks of it youre using sierra bullets to get the gun out that far? one thing i noticed was that the amax bullets im loading dont necessarily have run out on the bullet but the plastic tips seem to be bent in the odd bullet which turns them into what i call fouler and 100 yard shots. ill check out your site at some point today, just getting ready to hit the range, hoping to post some better groups today that last time i was out
