Anyone shoot rimfire in their basement?

I fired a K Hornet 1 shot in my basement just to make sure it was in working order & to have a look at the caseing when fire formed.:D DAN>>>

lmao i remember them crazy days when i use to shoot in the house started off with the 22 then the 32 and the 357 mag and the ultamite 44 we had a sound proof room under the garage with no ventilation and the fumes from firing the shoots was to much the whole basement of the house would smell of gun powder my dad would freak out on me because he knew what i was doing. So one day my son finds out that i shot guns in the house so he tries over his friends house and the neighbors herd shots fired and called the cops . Well you now the rest of the story they took the gun away and charged him for discharging a fire arm in the city limits and banned him from owning a firearm for 10 years . So i wouldnt do it again not even thinking about doing it not worth losing my guns But we learn some times the hard way good luck controlling your urges i know how you feel we all love to shoot .Have fun and be safe. I'm batching this weekend I have the itch to shoot. There's a box of CB Longs sitting here that are calling out to me. Any good advice?:D
You are batching ,not under house arrest go out to the range and shoot, discharging a firearm in your home is just stupid:rolleyes:

Local gunsmith here fired a 300H&H in his basement into a big maple block.Had to fire it after head spacing because customer was coming to pick it up right away.He said dust from the floor joists covered everthing in the basement. This fella was just too much.

I don't think we need one...we're into real guns.:D

Lol, lots of Airguns are getting into the .22 FPE area. Definatly not toys. So what if they do not burn powder, they can still easily mame/kill.

And, i shoot my Airguns in my basement all the time, i dont have a PB, but when i get one, ill just stick to the range :)

The point was that there are air powered guns that are 'real'.:D
And they are treated as real firearms in regards to discharging them within city limits.

Not saying that would stop me from doing it either......;)

I've done it in my other detached garage, against a stacked flat 2X10"thick X20" high backstop with a 3/8 oriented strandboard target mount. Shot at it with a .22 handgun to test a few things. The wife said you could hardly recognize the sound outside, (good considering an RCMP lives behind us). It was probably a bad idea and I wouldn't do it again or recommend it.
Now if they would only change the laws and allow us to use them in the bush for fun like we use non-restricted firearms. Nice dream!

I was drinking with my neighbor when I pulled out the CP99 nickel deluxe (.177 cal air gun) ...

We were in my garage and we needed something to shoot at. I had the bright Idea of testing the "hunting pellet" against a 2x4. We both wanted to know if it would embed in the wood.

Needless to say It bounced off the wood as fast as it hit it and riccocheted around the garage. This was exciting but it also meant we needed safety glasses.

The person shooting got the goggles while the other did the old duck and cover. we didn't shoot at planks for long maybe two shots with each pellet type. Next we fabricated a pellet trap out of a cardboard box and an SIR catalog.

Having a soft background was the key to absorbing the pellet. We would duct tape the beer bottle caps to the cardboard flaps.

It didn;t take long for a hole to develop though the hacked backdrop and a riccochet past our heads and hit behind us.

After realizing how easy I could bust a WINDOW I immediately halted the festivities!

Windows are serious stuff. don;t mess around!

Folks that shoot in their basements are obviously not married. :D

+1
A fella at work told me about how he shot CB Longs in his house when he was 'young and crazy'. Hmmmm.... The next day I had off, I went out and bought a box and shot at some old text books. Wifey comes home a few hours later and comments about a 'burning smell' in the basement. I told her that one of my guns was 'real dirty' and I was cleaning it. Don't think I'd be doing that again...I don't think she quite bought it but, thankfully, she didn't pursue it.

Hey; guys, I have found that the Crossman 2240 is a good little gas gun for basement shooting, same for the Webley Tempest, same as a Hurricane. You now can get a Crossman steel breech for the 2240. Lots of fun, I'll leave it up to you to determine the advisability of doing it in your basement. There are all kinds of ways to mitigate the sound of the report without resorting to illicit means. Get a silent bullet trap for one. Oh, the 2240 requires a trigger shoe. You can get a really nice one from T.R. Robb in the UK.

I shot my .177 pellet gun at some cans in the garage. I started shooting in the yard, but I was paranoid that my nazi b*tch of a neighbor would call 911 (not because she was worried, because she likes to sick the authorities on people...she gets off on other people's misery)
Anyway I had the bright idea to take the matress that was about to be thrown out, and stick it upright, and the trees on the other side blocked the other side of the street, so nobody could see me behind the little fortress, just heard a crack and saw the can fall.

But I decided it wasn't worth it, too many paranoid people, lot of cops in the area just idling, I think three gun murders on my street alone since i've lived there.

Anyway I have to find an area relatively closeby to shoot on. But I need a friggin' .22!! I was thinking to go for a bolt-action but a semi-auto would be a lot cooler since ammo's so cheap, I guess.

My old marketing professor used to talk about his .22 a lot; said he shot a whole bunch of stuff in his back yard. I love how a guy can have several high-ranking university degrees and still be amonst the kind who likes to shoot in the back with his kids. :)

.22 cal pellets and a .22 blank (the short little ones) behind .close to cb balistics.Works nice in a bolt action , very quiet.
