anyone thinking of buying a barrel from these guys do your self a favour...DO!

I’ll just add I backordered a barrel from them November 11 last year. They informed me the blanks would be arriving at the beginning of December and they should have barrels ready before the end of the year. I only just received the barrel yesterday so I have a feeling the blanks either didn’t arrive when the expected or the took longer to machine. That’s probably why their 4 weeks turned into 7 week without noticed. I also sent 2 emails asking the status of my order and didn’t get a response.

It's true and it makes it hard to keep our money here. Today I purchased from a US based firearms parts retailer who, to my surprise, ships to Canada. Their price, selection and service was better than I've ever seen here. They had a tracking number in my inbox in less than 6 hours.

I will be avoiding them as well. Rather just get an in stock item even if it has to be imported from a reputable company and its often cheaper despite shipping and duty.

^^^ once again see part in bold

That was your first mistake.

Sure it's fair game to ask for a refund HOWEVER given the circumstances I think they are well within their rights to offer a warranty replacement as a solution and refuse to issue a refund.

Did you not read the companies return and exchange policy prior to placing an order with them?

https://www.mapleridgearmoury.com/return-and-exchange-policy/

I wouldn't issue you a refund either.

1. You didn't inspect the product when you received it thus you didn't request to return it for refund within the time frame set out in the policy.

2. You agreed to a replacement through a warranty claim.

The company is no longer obligated to do anything more for you than replace a defective product with one that isn't defective.

How can they do that until they have that same product in stock again?

People have to take responsibility for their share of the negligence. But it's always easier to pass the blame on to the other person right???

Sorry fella, I run a business. There are rules and policies in place for a reason. The customer isn't always right.

You deserve a replacement NOT a refund.

.

Sorry no. You are right and I agree with you 100%, up until the point where both parties agreed to a replacement within and/or up to 4 weeks, and no, no extra week(s) for the holidays if this was agreed prior to the Christmas holidays, and, understanding that this is in fact the leadtime (4 weeks) given by Maple Ridge. And I am dead sure there was no negotiations about the leadtime, OP must have been given and took whatever the vendor gave him. So now, it's up to the vendor to make it right and deliver in 4 weeks. And right back at you on this: "People have to take responsibility for their share of the negligence. But it's always easier to pass the blame on to the other person right???" OP was negligent, his mistake, he did not inspect the product. OP and Maple Ridge agreed on a solution. 4 weeks and no barrel, the vendor is at fault now. Vendor's suppliers being late or an "overwhelmed" production schedule isn't a reason not to deliver on time. Barrel stock, turning, h/t, gun drill, riffling .. within 4 weeks is more then a reasonable leadtime. If they hand out leadtimes to customers but don't commit to it, then yeah, they should get nailed to the cross. 7 weeks out, the OP offered to resolve this quickly, but wasen't accepted. The way I see it, the onus is on Maple Ridge.

But I do understand your point of view. Some do go around acting like they bought the company once they've purchased an item or 2 and have the misfortune of a broken/wrong/used item. But I think this case isn't one of those.

Now that I read this I m gonna get my barrel from somewhere else cuz you can't offer poor product and services using the made in ,Canada banner as an excuse.

I buy all my parts I can from the US direct.....most outfits will ship up to 500 dollars value to Canada now....you may just have to sign a simple end user agreement to the ATF....big deal

I have ordered from boyd's, Kel-tec, tons from Brownell's and Troy......all have exceptional customer service to Canadians...and ship immediately the next day. Some US websites don't offer shipping to Canada....just simply call them for a phone order...

I would love to shop Canadian, but I also have had poor service issues in the past, as well as very long wait times and the same ole issue we have all dealt with....the exorbitant "Canadian tax" or extra "middleman" charges that tend to sometimes push the boundaries of "reasonable" added to the top...…..all drove me to shop US direct

my 2 cents :)

What business do you own so I can make sure to never spend my money there?

Like he said, obviously you are a business man who cares more about money than a happy customer, problem is one un happy customer means more lost business and less money in the end run.

Please share with all of us your business name so i personally can avoid it.

Now as far as inspecting the barrel, i did.

Now im not a gunsmith, so to me it looked like a shiny new barrel.

How would a regular guy like me know the gas port hole was drilled in the wrong location.

Also who would ever think after shelling out over 400$ for a barrel to look down it for pieces of burred metal!!!

Seriously.

Also how much money do you think they lost by me posting this thread of unhappiness....

Would have been cheaper and less embarrassing for them just to give me my money back, and allowed me to move on to complete my build.

There were rumors of changes to ITAR that would make these type of exports even easier for Americans. Hopefully this happens sometime soon and the crappy Canadian vendors can shape up or ship out.

Now I'm a bit nervous... I've ordered two barrels that are sitting here for builds that probably won't happen until the summer. I'm new to this and other than obvious defects I'd have no idea if out of spec, just from a visual.

Hahaha I was JUST thinking that exact same thing. Sure enough someone says it in the next post.

jiffx2781 - Please share the name of your business here so you can just avoid all of us unreasonable customers. Think of all the potential problems you'll avoid!

I completely understand how dealing with customers that expect a business to actually do what they say would be too much trouble for a business owner like yourself. All you have to do is back up your incorrect opinion by letting us know where not to spend our money.

You're the reason we have threads like this.

I wouldn't call this a dispute, just an unfortunate experience.

I’m 3 for 3 with barrels that were finished nicely. Customer service was good to me.

Small company but I’m thinkin they’ll take care of you

Where is the dispute? Has Maple Ridge Armoury even replied? There doesn't seem to be much of an argument here. IF true, then just a first hand account of what you may experience when purchasing.

We SHOULD be able to discuss dealings with vendors in an open and transparent forum.
