Hi all, seen lots of posts on scope mounts and the stickies need to be fixed, most are missing pictures these days, but from what I gather, the old arms 18 was the best mount. Has anyone ever tried just grinding out the cener/right of the new mount so they dont have to mod their bolt springs?

promag makes an excellant copy of the arms 18 mount.

Where'd you get your promag and how much was it?

I've seen the arms 18 for around 200, and the promag for 150. for that difference I'd probably stick with the arms 18 unless you know of a place I could get hte promag for around 100....

Where can you get ARMS 18 mounts in Canada, I want to try one I keep hearing they're the dope s**t

gp tactical sometime brings them in, wolverine as well.

I had one, liked it, but fought with it a little bit too much. I sold it before I read the little tweeks that you are supposed to do to them.
ie. upgrade screw, remove washer etc.

only had ejection issues once - I let my adjustment cap of my aimpoint dangle in front of the ejection path. Complete deflection right back with the neck caught in the action.

they are light, with the right rings allow use of the iron sights, and more solid than some kind of #### analogy.

I have one of these but I haven't mounted it yet....looks good. Made of steel.

I saw them at Al simmons in Hamilton, last week. Price was 169.99 I think. They will ship.

I have several old style and new style ARMS mounts and non have ever jammed on me ... but some guys have that problem ... you usually just cut one or two coils off your oprod spring and problem solved. ;)

I have a new one with no issues and I believe its fixed by trimming your bolts extractor (2 coils on most) and ejector spring (3 coils on most).

Personally I ended up milling out my SADLAK mount to save myself the trouble of disassembling the bolt and cutting the ejector spring. It was just was easier and more convenient to pop it on the mill and take .150" off the entire lower face.

Solved all ejection problems I was having.

I tried the ARMS 18 as well but like so many others I had ejection issues on my M1A. I elected to go with the trijicon TA70 rather than cutting springs and such and it works great. I have 1 ARMS18 (new style) for sale.

Some M305's with the ARMS18 mount will result in a jammed piece of brass no matter what; usually the brass will be caught between the top of the bolt and the mount.

I had the bolt spring trimmed a few coils.. still happened.
Had the USGI spring installed.. still happened.
Had it tuned by M14Doc and it still happened!
Solution was to buy the pro-mag mount with cut-out from Jerry (Mystic Precision). No more issues.

I have since mounted the same ARMS18 on another M305; trimmed the springs and has yet to experience this issue.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I'm ordering a promag from Mystic precision based on the old Arms 18. Wish me luck!!!

Also, I'll be mounting a Vortex Diamondback 2-7x with a BDC reticle. any thoughts? QD ring suggestions? Thinking of making my own junkyard cheek riser with aluminum and velcro for proper eye relief.

The CASM scope mount has none of these problems and it is about $80 cheaper after tax and shipping. But even less if you are current or former mil. or leo.

Get the M14 TacPro cheek riser from Fabsports, they work and look great.
