Anyone try grinding out their ARMS 18??

The CASM scope mount has none of these problems and it is about $80 cheaper after tax and shipping.

Yup., Thats all fine and dandy. Only problem is, you have to remove the iron sights to install it. that in my humble opinion is a HUGE FAIL. Anyone who removes their irons for the sake of a scope deserves to be flogged for all eternity in M14 hell. What happens when some zombie knocks your scope loose or carlos hathcock shoots through it and the scope is down?

I admire your efforts and really like the design AND that you are a Canadian company. If you could only develop the same rock solid system that had some kind of QR system on the stripper clip guide and/or side mount bracket I'd be sold.

I do commend you on the 2nd version with the emergency backup peep sight, however, when it comes to my M14's iron sights, I'll have to quote Charlton Heston my friend!!

A second M14 with a CASM MRD red dot? As a primary sight, it offers the lowest possible overall weight and compact configuration on your rifle with usable accuracy out to 200 yards. It has a BUS too.

The CASM design precisely avoids both the stripper clip guide and the side mount bracket. ;) Check out the Engineering and Design Considerations. It's the only scope mount in the world that includes vertical adjustments built in.

While the built-in non-adjustable rear BUIS included with the CASM mount may not be as convenient or as fine in adjustment as the M14 rear sight it replaces, for use as a true "Backup Sight System," intended primarily for back up or emergency use, with instant access to iron sights with the optic mounted, with iron sights that are zeroed for practical use at practical distances, the BUS system works.

Which mounts have seen and survived military service?

Well I think THAT point is moot when you're mounting it on a norc.

And M14.ca, I'll be sure to check out that link you posted, but I'll stick with my iron sights for BUS for now...

Who knows maybe I'll try it out on my second M305. Like Mr Hungry says, you need TWO!!
