Canadian company, I've read, but no website. I'm hoping the copper plating would stand up to moderate velocities (1,100 fps or so, 158 gr CPSWC, .38/.357) but I've read some plating jobs aren't so good in that category.

Thoughts?

I'd rather lick a cheese grater than ever use Excel products again...May be different with new ownership but quality control varied too much previously, altho some had great luck. I found the box full to be most useful as a door stop. But, thats just my personal experience.

Got a response from Cam-Pro.

They only sell through dealers. But they're working on a local dealer and will have news about this very soon.

Heh, heh, heh... STOP!!! It hurts to much from the laughing! :D Actually the lead cast ones were great... for remelting and casting into something a lot better! :)

I hear Frontier bullets sold by Marstar are pretty good.

They are pretty good. Can't complain with their performance. The .45's are a little overweight (avg. 235gr) but are pretty consistant. Between Marstar, Higginsons and CFRAM, there's always some available.

CAM-PRO? I heard they were excellent bullets for a little more $ than Frontier. Where does one get them?

Excel is out of business. All of their equipment was bought out by a new operator called "Aim Projectiles," and has either been totally re-furbished or simply replaced. They are currently up and running with their first run of new hard cast plated bullets in 9mm 9 mm (355-.356) and .40 S&W (190 grain), which I am now using in my .38 super race guns. I'm pushing the 122 grain bullets to about 1370 fps and shooting sub-2 inch groups at 25 yards...depending on how my eyes are on the day. I can't seem to do much better with my match loads. I shot some .40's today as well out of my old beater Caspian (Kart barrel) and they grouped VERY well.

This is not a hobby business, and their product is going to continually refine and improve to meet market demands. On order are dies for double-striking, so everything will be absolutely concentric. Also on order are molds for .45 acp, 357 and .44.

You might want to give them a try. P.m. if interested and I'll give you the contact info.

Yeah, that was funny.
I use them in full house .44 Mag and .45 Win Mag loads.........and yep the quality leaves something to be desired, but they are (were) the cheapest copper clad bullets available. No problem velocity wise, the plating is bonded to the lead core better than the swagged jacketed types.

Marty from Excel is a THIEF.

Plain and simple........
If you say so...I`ve been using Excel bullets since the early `90`s or so, and the only problem I ever had is with the .38 double-end wad cutters...Too hard, and bulged the case...45 colt, 45acp, .40S&W, .380acp all were accurate....The plated .40S&W were also fine for cheap plinking...I would always go to the store and buy direct from Marty...He was always friendly, and I would save 10-15 dollars over what a dealer would charge per 1000rds....Perhaps Stormbringer, being nice to people, instead of sarcastic would help (giggle)

Oh I was nice.............that was my downfall.

I started to use Excel (Marty) bullets last fall.

I found them to be CHEAP but useable.......

In January I happened to be in Toronto and I made a stop at his shop and picked up some rounds for me and some other EESA members. Marty and I got to talking about EESA which he had never heard of before.

He indicated that he ran a program with other clubs in terms of taking their lead. He would pay either in cash or in trade for bullets at a discount.

I took it to the membership of EESA and we elected to go with the program.

He came to EESA on Feb 24 2008.

Myself (and critter81 I believe) and a few others from a BB course I was teaching helped Marty load 25 five gallon pails into his truck.

That woudl be over 1 ton of lead from the range.

At the same time he also brought our more bullets for various club members who wanted some bullets about 15000 rounds I believe which we paid for.

Marty said that he would melt the lead into ingots over the next two weeks and get back to me with a $ ammount that can be used to buy more bullets or just cash.

After two weeks and hearing nothing I emaile him for a status report.
He said that he had not gotten it melted yet.

I waited another month.
He appologized saying that he had been ill and would get to it shortly.

All spring I emailed, I called

NOTHING!

Then in July after trying and trying I get an email back indicating that he was in the USA and that I should send him my address so he could send out a cheque.

NO SUCH CHEQUE arrived.........

Then I hear that he has closed up shop and sold all his equipment.

THE MAN IS A THIEF!

oh as an added bonus all of the boxes of 124 grain 9mm bullets were in reality 115 grain. Well some were 115 grain.........other ranged from 112 to 118
I ended up buying 4000 rounds from unhappy EESA members ( I thought it my duty as I initiated the group purchase).
They are just CRAP bullets.........my kids use them for IPSC practise and that is about it. Utter crap.

So not only is he a thief.......he is a terrible craftsman!
