Hello there!

Anyone used MUR uppers for their builds?

I have a Noveske marked VLTOR MUR upper that I am working on. Looking for people that have had experiences with these? Any pictures of how the AR looks like? which handguards did you go with?

-Nosty.

I built both the rifles seen below.
They are both built with as many Noveske parts as possible.
The Gen 2 has a Noveske marked MUR upper.
The only negative is that the MUR upper doesn't fit my Brownells clam shell style upper receiver action block.
The Magpul BEV Block or Geissele Reaction Rod is the way to go when torquing the barrel.

I had one that came as a complete upper from Questar and had VLTOR's CASV-M rail system:

Top notch. I have a 14.5" full Noveske build and it's smooth as butter compared to your regular cheapo-standard ar builds.

Which Nightforce is it that you are running there Mike?
How do you like it?

shv 3-10x 42, I would have to say it's fine for me.
I'm not a scope shooter so this is enough scope for my skill set. I usually run 4x fixed magnification only (acog, elcan, browe, etc), this is actually my first scope. I've tried it out once so far, but it was a really really windy day in the valley, I'll go again in April when the spring pacific winds die down a bit.

Nothing looks better than a good dirty AR. Haha. What rail are you using on those? Is that the NSR?

Yes I've converted all my AR's to NSR rails.
That's an 11" NSR on the 10.5" barrel. I replaced the Surefire on the 10.5 with a Noveske KX-5
That's a 13.5" NSR on the 14.5" barrel.
I also have a 16.7" NSR on an 18" barrel.

Nice. They look sweet. I will be going with the NSR rail for my build as well. Only need a bcg and a rail, thats it. Thanks for sharing the pics!

The UAR costs a bit more but I do like the fact that the FA and deflector are all part of the same billet. The IUR FA and deflector are separate from the main receiver and held in place by a roll pin. Not that there's any high pressures or external forces acting on it to possibly break it but it still is a possible point of failure.

Wow...lots of NSR + Noveske fans out there!!!
This is my first build years ago with a MUR matched to a Spike's lower with a DD Lite rail....and perhaps I got lucky but this baby eats, chews and spits out any type of brass you give her!!!

Yup...That's a RediMag...Lol...from the days of 5 round Magpul mags
The VLTOR is my favorite and you can still find monolithic uppers (one piece upper receiver + guard) if you look hard enough.

I will be swapping my DD handguard for a Geissele soon. However I do still love the picatinny rail look myself.
Here is the MUR with the Geissele (from the net):
