Anyone with opinions on the Mossberg Mavrick shotguns?

Someone must know where to buy one of these in Ontario, it's looking like a good blaster for friends to use. Hell I might buy two for the price of of the 870 I was looking at.

I had one go ka-boom on me. Broke the action bar. Tore the hell out of the interior of the shotgun's receiver, with deep, deep gouges in the aluminum. I wouldn't touch another, not even if they were free and I was paid to use it!

Explain please? From what I see in your post you experienced a part failure, which occurs with any mechanical device.

Its now complete...

where'd you get your heat shield, im looking to do the same to my persuader...

Good gun

I got a Maverick 88 and put a few rounds thru it. It worked without a problem. For the price, it's worth it.

i got a maverick 98 30 inch ribbed barrel when i was in university to shoot clays with. it was $200 new which was perfect for a student. i am VERY happy with it. it actions very smooth, i preffer the action release behind the tigger guard as opposed to in front (like a rem), it shoots clays very nicely and i havent had any problems at all.

the action is 100x better than my grizzly and at around the same price point. if only the maverick had a 12 inch barrel.

I'm not into using it for shooting clays or hunting so much, but I bring it camping/hiking with me every time and it has never let me down. not a jam or misfire. action is a little stiff compared to my 870 or 500, i just like it as a bush gun because its cheap and for $200 I could care less if it gets scratched to ####.

What did you guys do for sling mounting options? It seems like the mag cap already has a threaded hole in it.

Do you need to buy the entire Uncle Mike's 500 kit to mount a sling? Or can you just buy the mounts?

Has one, shot as a back up. Broke a part, piece of junk. Better off with a remington 870 sps. Dont bother with the Benilli Nova, shells jam when you try and eject. Same thing will happen in the sps if you buy it in 3 1/2. Lots of old 870 around if you ask.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I have a 1-point sling I use on many of guns. My 88 has the side folding stock and there is a sling mount on the receiver's side near the folding stock. That's where I hook up my 1-pointer and it works well for me.
