APC223 Non restricted whos getting one ?

Here are some photos our first groups shot yesterday. Three rds in ½ MOA was possible, 5 rds open the groups out a little, our test gun has the muzzle break not flash hider and she certainly needs a cheek piece, our scope was high due to 56 mm Obj we will change to 50 mm and make and improvised cheek piece. I have also asked B&T about a “Varmint stock”, certainly these rifles will shoot. All shooting was done at 100 Yds and all our 5 rd groups.

Impressive I got a T1 waiting for it but with that kinda accuracy I might put something else on. I have 1-4 and 1-8 s&b scopes that I was saving for the hk 243 and scar 17 but maybe better using them on this and the 308 that comes out.

With this kind of accuracy I think these rifles sound like they will be a great alternative to the modern varminter and hunter with likely better quality, reliability and accuracy.

Wow those are impressive groups, I think I will ditch the RDS and go straight to a NXS 2.5-10×32

Thats better accuracy then my ACR

Very impressive groups! I've been following this thread as well as your thread. The quality looks superb on these. I have a question. Have you used a Bushmaster ACR and how do these compare balance wise? I love my ACR but I do find it slightly front heavy. Wouldn't have been an issue 20 years ago but after 25 years commercial fishing my shoulders aren't what they used to be. Lol

Very nice. Been looking for another NR to add to the family. Love my tavor but tight groups isn't it's thing. Girlfriend loves it though, so maybe I can pick one of these beauties up for myself.

Would there be any issues using an Elcan Spectre DR 1/4x on one of these? There seems to be some comments/concerns with the skeleton stock and running a scope. I'm looking to sell some other guns buy a nice high end non restricted semi auto black rifle, and it's a toss up between the APC233 or the Modern Varmint.

Decisions decisions

Edit: Never mind I scrolled up and people seem to think a scope will run fine. Not making this decision easy!

I'd go with this over a varminter. I have a modern hunter and the reliability and accuracy weren't as promised not sure how the varminter is but I'd suspect the same. I think you'll get better value with this gun it's actually sub moa and more accurate, the quality will likely be pretty equal and I'd rather deal with wolverine than ATRS. I have a feeling this will be much more reliable.

I think this will likely be heavier and more front heavy and less customizable than the varminter but I'd rather have accuracy and more importantly reliability.

Thanks for the input, some good points to consider for sure. The APC seems to be growing on me the more I look at. Really great lines in the design. A nice clean Swiss design.

I'm thinking one of these with an Elcan Spectre would be a sweet setup.

ill put my elcan on it when i get it and ill let you know

Here's a couple pics I found on the net. It has the short handguard but it gives you a good idea of how a 1-4x scope would look. I'm not really a big fan of 1-4x scopes but this is a pretty slick looking set up. I prefer a red dot and magnifier or elcan specter. Both are kinda high for this rifle but I'd probably try my elcan too. The more I read these threads and research this rifle online the more I want one.

I have handled an ACR, she wasn't for me, I don't remember the balance as been great. The balance is not that good on the APC with the non restricted length barrel, the long HG is required to protect and support the gas block, I would not change that. I will remove the brake and try her with out it. The Skelton butt is light, changing to a different butt that is heavier I think would improve the balance, that and maybe a lighter barrel but it is early days for this rifle. I think there is only one long barreled gun built and we have her. We are going to have a sell a huge quantity before we can order B&T custom barrels, first I have to sell a few and get first hand feed back rather than speculation. Already I see the APC as a first rate varmint rifle which was not what she was designed for, time will tell how she develops. We need to do a lot more shooting. Did I mention not one failure of any sort from the rifle, she is as smooth as silk, also has an idiot proof gas system. :)

Thanks, the accuracy is awesome.

I do not plan on rappelling down the outside of an apartment building so a bit heavier does not matter. I have CQB rigs for light weight stuff.
Lugging this free-floated NR length rifle out, one has to get satisfaction from smoothness and accuracy.

Heavier stock is a thought though for shooting from standing, make a lead filled cheek riser??? :)

Accuracy results, I have just learnt that our barrel is fitted with a 1:10 twist, that explains why this rifle shot so well with the lighter bullets. Production guns with the 477 mm barrel will have a faster twist.
